Matsuya Revives 'Set Meal of Stir-fried Chicken in Butter Soy Sauce' After Two Years — Price Raised 100 Yen to 980 Yen
Matsuya announced that starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, it will begin selling the “Set Meal of Stir-fried Chicken in Butter Soy Sauce” at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores.
The dish is a popular limited-time item featuring juicy chicken thigh griddle-cooked with a special sauce of melting butter and garlic soy sauce. Matsuya describes it as “a rice-friendly flavor with an appetizing aroma, richness, and a punch of garlic that keeps you reaching for more rice.” The item was last sold in August 2024 and was absent from the lineup in 2025, marking its return after roughly one year and seven months.

Highlight of This Release: A Record Lineup
In the previous release in 2024, there were only two variations: the “Set Meal” and the “Large Serving Set Meal.” This time, the lineup expands to five variations — set meal, double set meal, no-rice, no-rice double, and standalone — plus an entirely new item, the “Garlic Butter Pork Boneless Short Rib & Egg Bowl” (790 yen), launching at the same time. This brings the Butter Soy Sauce Chicken series to a record six items in total.
In addition, the naming has changed: what was previously called the “Large Serving Set Meal” is now called the “Double Set Meal.”
