Matsuya's Official X Account Eats Miyazaki Specialties Hiyajiru and Chicken Nanban
Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted at 20:09 on May 7, 2026, reporting that it had eaten the Miyazaki specialties Hiyajiru and Chicken Nanban. Following the previous day’s report of eating Yatarazuke Beef Bowl on May 6, this marks a second consecutive day of eating reports for Store-limited menu items.

I couldn’t stop thinking about the other test sale, so I ended up coming back to Matsuya again (╹◡╹)
It’s the Miyazaki specialties “Hiyajiru” and “Chicken Nanban”!
If you’ve had a chance to try this week’s test sale, we’d love to hear your thoughts‼️

The opening line “the other test sale was on my mind” suggests that, of the two entries added on May 5 (Hiyajiru, and Yatarazuke Beef Bowl / Yatarazuke Hamburg Steak Set Meal), after eating the Yatarazuke Beef Bowl on May 6, the account was curious about the remaining item, Hiyajiru, and returned to try it. “I ended up coming back to Matsuya again” is also a humorous touch hinting at the back-to-back visits.
Hiyajiru: A Store-Limited Entry Added on May 5
The Hiyajiru mentioned in this post is the entry added to the Store-limited menu list on May 5. It went on sale at 70 stores starting at 10:00 on May 5, making today, May 7, its third day of sale. The store search link points to the same one used for the Hiyajiru entry when it was added on May 5.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Menu | Hiyajiru |
| Date Added | May 5, 2026 |
| Number of Stores | 70 stores |
| Start Date/Time | May 5, 2026, 10:00 |
| End Date/Time | TBD |
Chicken Nanban Not Found in Menu Data
Chicken Nanban, the other item mentioned in this post, is not registered as a separate entry in the Store-limited menu list on Matsuya’s official website. It may be offered as a combination with Hiyajiru (such as a set meal pairing the two), or it may only be announced in-store as part of the Hiyajiru entry’s contents. Since the store link points to the same participating stores as Hiyajiru, it is likely being offered as an accompanying item to Hiyajiru.
Two Store-Limited Items United by a Miyazaki Theme
Both items eaten today are local specialties of Miyazaki Prefecture.
- Hiyajiru: A local dish from Miyazaki Prefecture — a summer menu item made by adding cucumber, shiso, and myoga ginger to cold miso soup.
- Chicken Nanban: A chicken dish that originated in Miyazaki Prefecture, made by pairing fried chicken with a sweet vinegar sauce and tartar sauce.
Placed alongside Yatarazuke (from the Hokushin region of Shinshu), it becomes clear that the Store-limited lineup since May 5 has been assembled around the theme of regional local specialties. This suggests a regional gourmet series may now be underway.
The Eating Report Series Since May
Eating Report posts have continued at a daily pace since May.
| Date | Menu Item Eaten | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| May 2 | Salt-based Green Onion Bowl | Large-serving two-topping tip + topping question format |
| May 3 | Chunky Stewed Tandoori Chicken Loin Katsu Curry and Rice (limited to stores co-located with My Curry) | Announced end of service voucher distribution |
| May 4 | Iburigakko Beef Bowl (trip to Akita Yokote Store) | Regional store-limited menu item |
| May 5 | Taco Rice (first day of sale) | Tabletop French Dressing flavor twist + trivia about salsa |
| May 6 | Yatarazuke Beef Bowl (Store-limited from May 5) | First-time mention of “yatara” + introduction to the local dish |
| May 7 (this post) | Hiyajiru / Chicken Nanban (Miyazaki specialties) | Repeat visit to eat the other store-limited item |
Since May, eating reports centered on Store-limited and regional-limited items have continued. With today’s Miyazaki specialties, this marks six consecutive days of Eating Report posts, continuing a dense run of updates centered on regional local specialties.
Editor's Note
After Yatarazuke, the official account went right on to hop into Miyazaki specialties too. There's something quietly endearing about Matsuya itself reporting back because "the other test sale was on my mind."
