Matsuya Ends 24-Hour Operation Simultaneously at 4 Central Tokyo Stores, Switching to 9 AM–10 PM — Major Cuts in Shibuya, Ichigaya, Yotsuya, and Kanda

Matsuya’s store data confirmed that on April 17, four stores in central Tokyo simultaneously ended 24-hour operation and switched to 9 AM–10 PM hours. Three other stores also had their operating hours changed.

The Trend Toward Ending 24-Hour Operation Is Accelerating

Recently, Keisei-Okubo Store (April 16) and Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Store (April 14) also had their 24-hour operation reviewed. Including this round’s five central Tokyo stores, multiple stores have ended 24-hour operation within a short span, and the trend appears to be accelerating. The optimization of operating hours in response to shifting late-night demand seems to be progressing especially among stores in office districts and business areas.
