Since the notice was published on May 1, the thumbnail image has gone through the following changes up to today.

Time Image File Key Design Features
May 1 (Publication) 260501_comeback_thumb.jpg Simple layout with the “Matsuben Net / Matsuya Mobile Order” logo at the top and “Comeback Campaign” below
May 9, 16:09 260501_comeback_thumb_02.jpg “Welcome Back!” + “Comeback Campaign”, decorated with two large solid-orange stars on both lower sides
May 9, 16:39 (This Update) 260501_comeback_thumb_03.jpg “Welcome Back!” + “Comeback Campaign”, decorated with four white-outlined, hollow stars evenly placed at the four corners

After the original version held for 8 days, today saw two consecutive generations of updates within just 30 minutes.

Specific Differences Between the 2nd and 3rd Versions

The main visual shared by the 2nd and 3rd versions — the yellow background, the handwritten-style “Welcome Back!” at the top, and the red ribbon with yellow text reading “Comeback Campaign” in the center — remains unchanged. What has switched is the decorative star marks scattered across the image, specifically in three respects: fill style, count, and placement.

Aspect 2nd Version (16:09) 3rd Version (16:39)
Star Fill Style Solid orange/vermilion fill Hollow (white outline only, with the yellow background showing through the inside)
Number of Large Stars 2 4
Placement Only on the left and right sides of the lower screen All four corners of the screen (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right)

In the 2nd version, the two solid-orange large stars were clustered toward the lower half of the screen, pulling the eye downward. In the 3rd version, stars of a similar size were switched to a hollow style and evenly spread across the four corners, which weakens the decoration’s own color presence while giving the thumbnail a more uniform sense of framing and sparkle across the whole image. The balance among the three elements — the yellow background, the red of the main copy, and the color of the decoration on top — has shifted from the decoration “asserting itself through color” to “framing the image through outlines.”

Possible Reasons for the Re-Update Within 30 Minutes

The fact that only the decorative stars were adjusted twice in a row, while the body text, campaign conditions, and main graphics were left untouched, suggests the following possible intentions behind the adjustment:

  • Concentrating attention on the main copy: The solid-orange stars in the 2nd version were close in hue to both the yellow background and the red ribbon at the center (“Comeback Campaign”), giving the decoration a strong enough presence that its color tended to compete with the red of the main copy. By switching to white-outlined hollow stars in the 3rd version, the decoration’s color assertion is muted, likely drawing the eye more naturally toward the central copy.
  • Rebalancing the overall composition: In the 2nd version, with both stars clustered at the bottom, the thumbnail’s visual weight was skewed toward the lower half, leaving the “Welcome Back!” copy at the top outside the decorative frame. With four stars evenly placed at the corners in the 3rd version, both the top and bottom copy end up framed by the stars, pulling the overall visual weight of the thumbnail back toward the center.
  • Fine-tuning appearance in list view: On the Matsuya App and official website’s notice list, multiple thumbnails are displayed stacked vertically, so even small differences in decorative style or placement can noticeably affect how an image looks next to adjacent notices. Updating only the decoration on a tight 30-minute cycle reads as a final adjustment made while checking how it actually looks in the list view.

In every case, these are decoration-level adjustments — the copy, color scheme, and main layout, in other words the image’s core structure, have not been touched. With the main content (period, eligibility, discounts) also left unchanged, the effort here has gone solely into polishing the thumbnail’s finish.

The Campaign Itself Began May 1, Today Is Day 9

Editor's Note

The body text was left untouched — only the star fill (orange → white outline) and placement (two at the bottom → four at the corners) were retuned 30 minutes later. Feels like a final adjustment for the list view, dialing back the decoration's visual weight so the eye goes straight to the main copy.
