Matsuya to Open Its First Seki City Store in Gifu Prefecture, 'Matsuya Seki Store,' September 4 at 10:00 AM

Matsuya will open a new store, “Matsuya Seki Store,” in Sakaecho, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. According to Matsuya’s official store information, the store is scheduled to open at 10:00 AM on September 4, 2026, as a 24-hour location co-located with Matsunoya, the chain serving tonkatsu and tonkatsu bowls. This will be Matsuya’s first store in Seki City, bringing the total number of Matsuya locations in Gifu Prefecture to eight.

The address is 4-1-48 Sakaecho, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. Seki City is known as a city of bladesmithing.

Eighth Store in Gifu Prefecture, First in Seki City

With the opening of Matsuya Seki Store, the number of Matsuya locations in Gifu Prefecture will increase from seven to eight. The seven existing stores in the prefecture are listed below; until now, there had been no Matsuya in Seki City.

Co-located with Matsunoya — Six of the Eight Prefecture Stores Are This Type

Matsuya Seki Store will be co-located with Matsunoya, which serves tonkatsu and tonkatsu bowls. Co-location with Matsunoya is the mainstream format in Gifu Prefecture: six of the eight stores, including Matsuya Seki Store, are co-located with Matsunoya. Only two stores — Ogaki Store and Gifu Akanebe Store — operate as standalone Matsuya locations without Matsunoya. Offering both Beef Bowl and items like Loin Katsu Set Meal and Tonkatsu Bowl under the same roof has become the standard format for Matsuya in the prefecture.

A String of New Openings Across the Regions

Matsuya continues to open new stores nationwide, with many marking the chain’s first entry into a given municipality. On July 8, Ishioka Store opened as the first Matsuya in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, followed on July 17 by Tomisato Inter Store, the first in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture. Closer to Gifu Prefecture, Ichinomiya Onishi Store in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture, opened just recently on August 8. The September 4 opening of Matsuya Seki Store, marking the chain’s first entry into Seki City, continues this trend of new openings.
