Matsuya to Open "Ichinomiya Onishi Store" at 10 AM on August 8
Matsuya will open “Matsuya Ichinomiya Onishi Store (2307)” in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture, at 10 AM on August 8, 2026. The store is co-located with Matsunoya and operates 24 hours, becoming the second Matsuya location within Ichinomiya City.
Location and Operating Format
The new store is located at 3327 Koshin-Nakajima Aza Gohoku, Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is co-located with Matsunoya and operates 24 hours. The existing Matsuya in Ichinomiya City is the Ichinomiya Store (1-2-4 Akami, Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture), in the southern part of the city, which is also a Matsunoya co-located type. With the opening of Ichinomiya Onishi Store, Matsuya in Ichinomiya City will move to a two-store setup: the Ichinomiya Store toward the east of the city, and the Ichinomiya Onishi Store in the west, near the Kiso River.
| Store | Location | Operating Format |

The store name “Onishi” refers to the area covering the western part of Ichinomiya City, including the former Onishi City (merged into Ichinomiya City in 2005), and is also the center of Bishu, a region known for its textile industry. Located to the west of the city’s central district, it is a location with a trade area distinct from the existing Ichinomiya Store.
Distribution of Matsuya Stores in Aichi Prefecture
Aichi Prefecture currently has 54 Matsuya stores, ranking 6th nationwide by prefecture, following Tokyo (337 stores), Kanagawa (112 stores), Osaka (111 stores), Saitama (102 stores), and Chiba (77 stores). Within the prefecture, Nagoya City stands out with 21 stores, and outside Nagoya City, two stores per city represents a notable concentration. With the opening of Ichinomiya Onishi Store, Ichinomiya City joins Kasugai City, Toyokawa City, and Nisshin City as a city with two Matsuya stores.
In terms of co-located brands, about half of Aichi Prefecture’s 54 stores are co-located with Matsunoya, and Ichinomiya Onishi Store falls into this co-located type. Housing the beef-bowl chain Matsuya together with the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya has become an established opening pattern for new stores along main roads and in suburban areas.
From a Coordinate Correction to Opening Day
Ahead of its opening, Ichinomiya Onishi Store had its registered coordinates on the official store map quietly shift slightly southward. Now the very store at the center of that minor correction is finally raising its curtain on August 8. The scene shifts from a low-key pre-opening coordinate adjustment to its debut as a real, 24-hour-operating store.
In Aichi Prefecture, this follows the June 2026 opening of Toyokawa Yahata Store, the second store in Toyokawa City, sharing the same Matsunoya co-located, suburban-type profile. As another entry in the “second store in the city” lineage, it reflects the ongoing expansion of Matsuya’s presence within the prefecture.
Editor's Note
After the story of coordinates shifting by 11cm, it's finally showtime. Late at night in the Onishi area, the lights of Matsuya and Matsunoya will be a reassuring sight.
