Matsuya to Open 'Matsuya Tsushima Store,' Its First Location in Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture, on November 28 at 10 AM
Matsuya Foods has revealed that it plans to open “Matsuya Tsushima Store” (2622) at 1-53-1 Umeta-machi, Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2026. This will be Matsuya’s first store in Tsushima City, filling a gap that had remained in the western part of the Owari region.
Matsuya’s First Store in Tsushima City, About 5.8 km from the Nearest Location
Until now, Tsushima City has had no Matsuya stores, making Tsushima Store the city’s sole and first Matsuya location. The closest existing store at this point is Matsuya Kanie in neighboring Kanie Town, Ama District, to the west, at a distance of about 5.8 kilometers. This is followed by Matsuya Inasawa at about 10.2 kilometers and Matsuya Kamejima in Nagoya City at about 12.1 kilometers — all more than 5 kilometers away. The area around Tsushima City had been underserved by Matsuya, and the opening of Tsushima Store fills this geographic gap.
Opening as a Store Co-located with “Matsunoya”
Tsushima Store will open as a store type co-located with the tonkatsu specialty chain “Matsunoya.” This co-located format, where Matsuya and Matsunoya operate within the same store, accounts for a large share of Matsuya locations within Aichi Prefecture, and many of the existing stores near Tsushima Store — including Kanie, Inasawa, and Kamejima — are also of the Matsunoya co-located type. It is a format that lets customers order both beef bowls and tonkatsu at a single store, and this combination is set to expand further in western Owari as well.
Aichi Prefecture Ranks 6th Nationwide in Matsuya Store Count
With the addition of Tsushima Store, the number of Matsuya stores in Aichi Prefecture will reach 55. Looking at Matsuya’s 1,227 stores nationwide by prefecture, Tokyo leads with 337 stores, followed by Osaka Prefecture with 114, Kanagawa Prefecture with 111, Saitama Prefecture with 104, and Chiba Prefecture with 78 — placing Aichi Prefecture’s 55 stores 6th nationwide. It is one of Matsuya’s most densely contested regions after the Greater Tokyo and Kansai areas, and within it, Tsushima City had remained an unfilled gap.
A String of New Openings, About a Month from Listing to Opening
New store openings have continued recently within Aichi Prefecture as well. In western Owari, Matsuya Ichinomiya Bisai opened in Ichinomiya City on August 8 of this year, while in the Mikawa region, Matsuya Toyokowa Yawata — Toyokawa City’s second location — opened just on July 1. Tsushima Store’s information was published roughly a month before its scheduled opening date, in line with Matsuya’s recent pattern of announcing new stores three to four weeks ahead of opening. New store openings are also planned across the country in late November, and Tsushima Store is one part of that wave of openings.
Editor's Note
The Tsushima area, long a gap on the western edge of Owari, is finally getting a Matsuya. It opens at 10 AM on a Saturday — a weekend debut.
