Matsuya Soka Higashiguchi Store Resumes Operations After Temporary Closure

StoreUpdated

Matsuya Soka Higashiguchi Store (1912) has resumed operations after a temporary closure that had been in place since August 3. The notice announcing the closure has been removed from the store’s page on the official website, which now shows the store under its normal name listing. Alongside this, a change was also made to the last order setting within the store’s business hours.

Closure Notice Removed, Listing Returns to Normal

As of July 21, the store’s name had carried the notice “*Temporarily closed from 15:00 on August 3, reopening 15:00 on August 10,” announcing a temporary closure running from 15:00 on August 3 to 15:00 on August 10. This time, both the notice and the closure-period text have been removed, and the official website now shows the store in its normal operating state. It appears the store reopened as scheduled at 15:00 on August 10.

“Temporarily Closed” in a store’s name refers to a temporary suspension of operations, such as for renovation work, rather than a permanent closure of the store itself. After roughly a week away, the store has once again raised its curtain.

Last Order Returns to “15 Minutes Before Closing”

Business hours remain 7:00 to 1:00 the following day, with no change to the opening or closing times themselves. The last order time, however, has been changed from “30 minutes before closing” to “15 minutes before closing.” Since the closing time of 1:00 the following day is unchanged, the window for placing orders has effectively been extended by 15 minutes.

This store’s business hours have been revised multiple times on the official website so far this year. In the June 1 revision, hours were significantly expanded from 9:00-23:00 (last order 15 minutes before closing) to 5:00-2:00 the following day (last order 30 minutes before closing), before being readjusted to 7:00-1:00 the following day (last order 30 minutes before closing) on July 30. The last order time, which had been pushed from “15 minutes before” to “30 minutes before” in the June 1 revision, has now returned to “15 minutes before” for the first time in roughly two and a half months.

Point in Time Business Hours Last Order
June 1 revision 5:00-2:00 the following day 30 minutes before closing
July 30 revision 7:00-1:00 the following day 30 minutes before closing
This change 7:00-1:00 the following day 15 minutes before closing

Six Stores Packed Around Soka Station

Six Matsuya stores currently operate within Soka City, where Soka Higashiguchi Store is located (Dokkyo Daigaku-mae Store (2272), Soka Store (0070), Soka Higashiguchi Store, Soka Matsue Store (2068), Soka Seimoncho Store (0500), and Soka Nishiguchi Store (0912)). Notably, Soka Nishiguchi Store sits roughly 270 meters in a straight line from Soka Higashiguchi Store, meaning Matsuya has a presence at both the east and west exits of Soka Station.

Saitama Prefecture is home to 102 Matsuya stores, making it the fourth most store-dense prefecture nationwide, behind Tokyo (337 stores), Kanagawa Prefecture (112 stores), and Osaka Prefecture (111 stores). Soka City is one of the areas within Saitama Prefecture where stores are especially concentrated.

Editor's Note

The Higashiguchi Store is back after about a week away. The last order window has also stretched out a little — good news for anyone hoping to dash in right before closing.
