Operations are set to resume at 3 PM on August 10, making for a closure period of roughly seven days. This is a temporary suspension of operations at the store itself; the store code remains active, so it is not a permanent closure.

A Seven-Day Closure Is on the Shorter End for Matsuya Announcements

The closure begins at 3 PM on Monday, August 3, with operations resuming at 3 PM the following Monday, August 10. The period runs exactly seven days, from Monday afternoon to Monday afternoon a week later.

Matsuya has been announcing temporary closures, apparently for renovations, at locations across the country in quick succession. In just the past month or so, the Futamatase Store (July 23–August 7), the Asakusabashi Minami Store (July 23–August 7), and the Nakamurabashi Store (July 17–July 24) have all published similar closure and reopening schedules. While many of these summer closure announcements run one to two weeks, the Soka Higashiguchi Store’s one-week schedule is comparatively compact. The reopening date of August 10 also falls just ahead of the Obon homecoming and travel season.

Matsuya Flanks Both Sides of the Station, with Six Stores Clustered Across Soka City

Soka City in Saitama Prefecture, where the Higashiguchi Store is located, is home to not just this one store but six Matsuya locations in total: the Soka Higashiguchi Store, Soka Nishiguchi Store (0912), Soka Seimoncho Store (0500), Soka Matsue Store (2068), Soka Store (0070), and Dokkyo University-mae Store (2272).

Among these, the Soka Higashiguchi Store and Soka Nishiguchi Store sit on opposite sides of the station, at the east and west exits respectively, and the two are only about 200 meters apart in a straight line. With Matsuya anchoring both sides of a single station, the store density in this part of the city is quite high.

As for co-located concepts, the Soka Matsue Store has an attached My Curry Shokudo curry outlet, while the Soka Store and Dokkyo University-mae Store each have an attached Matsunoya tonkatsu outlet. The Soka Higashiguchi Store, by contrast, is a standalone Matsuya location with no attached concept, meaning this closure affects a Beef Bowl-only store.

Saitama Prefecture has 102 Matsuya locations, making it one of the country’s major areas, ranking fourth nationwide behind Tokyo (336 stores), Kanagawa Prefecture (112 stores), and Osaka Prefecture (111 stores). It is one of the prefectures where Matsuya has put down especially deep roots within the greater Tokyo area.

While the Soka Higashiguchi Store is closed from August 3 to August 10, the remaining five stores in the city, including the Soka Nishiguchi Store, are expected to continue operating as usual. Even with the Higashiguchi store closed, having multiple alternative Matsuya locations within walking distance, starting with the Nishiguchi store just across the road, offers a reassurance unique to Soka.
