Matsuya to Take ¥200 Off Three Large Serving Set Meals for May 29 "Meat Day"
Matsuya announced in an official notice dated May 25, 2026 that it will hold its “Meat Day Campaign” on Friday, May 29, 2026. Under this recurring campaign held on the 29th of every month, three Large Serving Yakiniku Set Meals are ¥200 off their regular price, available only through Matsuben Net or Matsuya Mobile Order via the Matsuya App. This time, May 29 also carries a double meaning, since the date reads as “go-fuku” (5-29) in Japanese wordplay, coinciding with “Kofuku no Hi” (Day of Happiness).
The Three Featured Items (Compared with the April 29 Meat Day)
The featured items are three Large Serving Yakiniku Set Meals, each offered ¥200 off its regular price. The lineup is the same three items as the previous Meat Day on April 29, but the regular price of the Large Serving Grilled Thick Pork Loin Set Meal alone changed significantly due to the switch to a thick-cut version.
| Menu Item | Apr 29 Regular Price | May 29 Regular Price | May 29 Meat Day Price | Discount | vs. Apr 29 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Large Serving Yakiniku Beef Set Meal | ¥1,380 | ¥1,380 | ¥1,180 | -¥200 | ±¥0 |
| Large Serving Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib Set Meal | ¥1,380 | ¥1,380 | ¥1,180 | -¥200 | ±¥0 |
| Large Serving Grilled Thick Pork Loin Set Meal | ¥1,370 (former 120g version) | ¥1,730 (thick-cut 180g) | ¥1,530 | -¥200 | +¥360 |
All prices include tax. The discount is a uniform ¥200 across all three items, but the Large Serving Grilled Thick Pork Loin Set Meal has the highest absolute price of the three.
The Grilled Pork Loin Set Meal switched from the 120g version to the thick-cut 180g version at 10:00 a.m. on May 19, 2026 (regular price rising from ¥880 to ¥980, a ¥100 increase), and the Large Serving version doubled that difference for a ¥360 increase. After the ¥200 discount, the actual selling price rises from ¥1,170 on April 29 to ¥1,530 on May 29, a ¥360 jump — the largest increase in absolute terms among the three Large Serving Set Meals.

The Pork Steak Set Meal Remains Excluded, as on April 29
The May 29 notice also explicitly excludes the “Pork Steak Set Meal.” It was likewise excluded from the April 29 Meat Day campaign, the day after the Pork Steak Set Meal’s April 28 launch, and it remains excluded on May 29 even after its thick-cut upgrade (120g to 180g) on May 19 at 10:00 a.m.
The “Day of Happiness” Tie-In Is a One-Time Wordplay
The cultural association of May 29 with “Kofuku no Hi” (Day of Happiness), based on the “go-fuku” (5-29) wordplay, is specific to this particular May 29 among the monthly Meat Day campaigns. The official notice and thumbnail image both foreground the pairing: “The 29th is the regular Meat Day! And May 29 is also the Day of Happiness!”
Continuing as a Monthly Fixture on the 29th
The Meat Day Campaign is a recurring promotion held on the 29th of every month (the 28th in February only), with the featured menu updated each month.
| Month | Meat Day | Featured Lineup |
|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | April 29 (Wed) | Large Serving Yakiniku Beef, Large Serving Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib, Large Serving Grilled Pork Loin (former version) |
| May 2026 (this campaign) | May 29 (Fri) | Large Serving Yakiniku Beef, Large Serving Yakiniku Boneless Short Rib, Large Serving Grilled Thick Pork Loin |
The same three-item lineup carries over for two consecutive months from April to May, with this campaign reflecting the switch to the thick-cut Pork Loin version.

Editor's Note
May 29 doubles as "Kofuku no Hi" (Day of Happiness) from the "go-fuku" wordplay. At 180g of thick-cut pork for 1,530 yen, the Large Serving Grilled Thick Pork Loin Set Meal claims the go-to slot for a hearty solo yakiniku fix.
