Matsuya's First Seki City, Gifu Store Opens Today at 10 AM

Matsuya’s new store, “Matsuya Seki Store (2301),” opened at 10 AM on September 4, 2026. Located at 4-1-48 Sakaecho, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, it is the first Matsuya in Seki City.

The store was registered on Matsuya’s official store list as pre-opening information on August 12, with the notation “*Opens September 4 at 10 AM” appended to its name. On September 4, that notation and the scheduled opening date and time were removed, and the listing switched to that of a regularly operating store. The opening took place exactly as announced.

Matsuya’s First Store in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture

According to Matsuya’s official store list, Seki Store is the only Matsuya located in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, making this the chain’s first store in the city. With the addition of Seki Store, Gifu Prefecture now has 8 Matsuya locations.

The nearest existing store to Seki Store is Kakamigahara Store in Kakamigahara City, located to the south of Seki City, about 11.4 km away in a straight line. The next closest, Gifu Toei-cho Store, is about 14.6 km away, and the area around Seki City had been a gap in Matsuya’s coverage. With this new opening, a Matsuya sign now stands in that area for the first time.

A Store With a Co-located Matsunoya

Seki Store is listed as a location with a co-located Matsunoya, which serves tonkatsu and katsu-don. As previously reported on August 14, Seki Store’s opening had been scheduled for “September 4 at 10 AM.” About three weeks after the pre-opening listing appeared, the store opened exactly as announced.
