It was found that the operating hours of Matsuya Okayama Station West Exit Store (0541) changed on July 17, 2026, from the previous “6:00 AM to midnight (last order 30 minutes before closing)” to “24-hour operation.” The store had just reopened on July 13 after about 13 days closed for renovation, making this a switch in operating format just 4 days after reopening.

A Hectic Two Weeks Bookended by a Renovation Closure

Okayama Station West Exit Store closed for about 13 days, from June 30 to July 13, for renovation. As announced, it reopened for business on July 13, and 4 days later, on July 17, its operating hours switched to 24-hour operation. This marks an expansion of operating hours just after returning from an extended renovation closure.

Before the change, the store operated from “6:00 AM to midnight (last order 30 minutes before closing),” and this has now shifted to round-the-clock operation including the late-night hours.

Two Stores Facing Each Other Across JR Okayama Station

Okayama Station West Exit Store (Ekimotomachi, Kita-ku, Okayama City) appears to be located within roughly 500 meters in a straight line of Matsuya Okayama Station store (0540, Honmachi, Kita-ku, Okayama City), which stands on the opposite side of JR Okayama Station. As its name suggests, Okayama Station West Exit Store sits on the west exit side of the station, while Okayama Station store is on the opposite side across the station, meaning two Matsuya locations now face each other across a single station.

The two stores differ somewhat in character. Okayama Station store is a combined store that also houses the tonkatsu chain “Matsunoya,” while Okayama Station West Exit Store operates as a standalone Matsuya. With this switch to 24-hour operation, both of these nearby stores are now open around the clock.

Matsuya locations currently operating within Okayama Prefecture number nine: Okayama Station store, Okayama Station West Exit store, Okayama Tooka-ichi store, Kurashiki Tamashima store, Kurashiki Mizushima store, Okayama Shimonakano store, Soja store, Tsuyama store, and Okayama Omotecho store. With this latest change, every Matsuya store operating in the prefecture is now open 24 hours a day.

A Continuing Wave of Existing Stores Switching to 24-Hour Operation

Around 80% of Matsuya’s currently operating stores now offer 24-hour operation, so this switch at Okayama Station West Exit Store represents less a shift to an unusual format and more a case of the store joining the standard operating format.

Recently, a pattern has continued of stores that have just completed renovation renewals switching to 24-hour operation within a short span. Matsuya Nirasaki store in Yamanashi Prefecture, for instance, switched to 24-hour operation just 6 days after its renewal reopening with an attached “Matsunoya.” This trend of shifting to round-the-clock operation soon after a renovation reopening overlaps with Okayama Station West Exit Store’s own “24-hour operation 4 days after reopening.”
