Matsuya's Koshigaya Gamo Store and Another Saitama Location Drop Co-located Hours Notes, Unify to "24-Hour Operation"

On the store information pages of Matsuya’s official website, the business hours listings for Matsuya Koshigaya Gamo Store (0593) and Matsuya Asaka Hizaori Store (1811) have been updated. Both stores previously carried a note conveying the shorter hours of their co-located brand, but that sentence has been removed, and both listings are now unified into a single line reading “24-Hour Operation.”

Removed Note, Remaining “24-Hour Operation”

The change concerns the wording of the business hours field. The old and new values are as follows.

In both cases, Matsuya’s own “24-Hour Operation” status is unchanged; what disappeared is the note indicating the hours of the co-located brand — the curry restaurant My Curry Shokudo at Koshigaya Gamo Store, and the tonkatsu restaurant Matsunoya at Asaka Hizaori Store. There is no indication that the hours of My Curry Shokudo or Matsunoya themselves have changed from 8:00–22:00 (last order 15 minutes before closing); this appears to be a tidying-up of the listing that dropped the co-listed note and aligned it with Matsuya’s own single line of “24-Hour Operation.”

The Same Type of Change Continues Nationwide

This update pattern — removing the co-located brand’s hours note and leaving only “24-Hour Operation” — is not limited to these two stores. It has occurred in succession at Matsuya locations nationwide since April, and in July the same tidying-up of the listing took place at Matsuya Urawa Otakubo Store (July 6) and Matsuya Komae Store (July 10). Since entering August, the interval between occurrences has shortened further: the same change appeared at Matsuya Kumamoto Shinshigai Store and Matsuya Hachinohe Joka Store on the 12th, and at Matsuya Kagoshima Shinei Store on the 13th. Adding the two Saitama stores this time, the same change has now appeared on three separate days within just the past week.

At none of the stores where this change occurred earlier has there been any move back to the original separate wording, and the business hours field at each store currently continues to display only “24-Hour Operation.” Across Matsuya store pages that co-locate My Curry Shokudo or Matsunoya, a trend can be seen in which the wording of business hours is being brought into line with Matsuya’s own standard in stages.

The History Behind Asaka Hizaori Store

Asaka Hizaori Store, one of the two stores in question this time, has a history dating back to this spring. The store entered a temporary closure starting May 11 and resumed operation at 10:00 a.m. on May 26. In step with this reopening, its co-located brand switched from My Curry Shokudo to Matsunoya, and the now-removed note “※Matsunoya: 8:00–22:00” was added after that switch. In June there was also a minor wording tweak that added a single comma to the Matsunoya hours note, and from there the note itself has now been removed entirely. It’s a store whose business hours field has been rewritten at short intervals.

Koshigaya Gamo Store, on the other hand, has had no such temporary closure or change of co-located brand, and has continued operating with My Curry Shokudo co-located the whole time. This time’s unification into “24-Hour Operation” is a rewrite of the business hours field at a store with no such prior history.

102 Stores in Saitama, a Minority of Co-located Brands

Saitama Prefecture, home to both stores, currently has 102 Matsuya locations, the fourth-largest count nationwide after Tokyo (338 stores), Kanagawa Prefecture (112 stores), and Osaka Prefecture (111 stores). Koshigaya City, where Koshigaya Gamo Store is located, has 6 Matsuya stores, but Koshigaya Gamo Store is the only one co-located with My Curry Shokudo; of the rest, 3 are co-located with Matsunoya and 2 have no co-located brand. Asaka City, where Asaka Hizaori Store is located, has 5 stores, of which 2 — Asaka Hizaori Store and Asaka Izumi Store — are co-located with Matsunoya.

Nationwide, there’s a wide gap between the two co-located brands — 79 stores for My Curry Shokudo versus 475 for Matsunoya — and within Saitama Prefecture, too, both are a minority, with 5 My Curry Shokudo co-locations and 43 Matsunoya co-locations. The two stores whose listings were tidied up together this time are Matsuya locations with a co-located style that is limited in number even within the region.
