Matsuya PREMIUM to Launch 2 New Items on 8/19, Including 'Kobe Beef, Green Onion & Soft-boiled Egg Beef Bowl' at Up to 2,340 Yen

On August 18, 2026, Matsuya Foods announced that its prepared-meal retail format, Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza, will launch “Duo Pork with Kujo Green Onion in Salt Sauce Box” (1,300 yen) and “Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg” (1,650 yen) at 11 a.m. on August 19. The Kobe beef bowl also comes in a Double-Meat variation at 2,340 yen. Both items center on Kujo green onion as the star ingredient for the summer, and mark the third menu expansion at the store, following its opening in June and the addition of prepared foods at the end of July.

A Few Days After the “Green Onion, Meat, Salt Sauce” Teaser, the Product Names and Prices Are Set

Before this announcement, the official Matsuya PREMIUM X account (@matsuya_foods) had posted a series of teasers hinting at the new menu. On August 14, a post listed only the ingredients: “Green onion, meat, salt sauce…?” The next day, on August 15, another post followed up with “A certain menu item is apparently coming to Matsuya PREMIUM soon.” Neither the product name nor the price was revealed. With the announcement on August 18, the identity of the item, “Duo Pork with Kujo Green Onion in Salt Sauce Box,” along with its price of 1,300 yen and its August 19 release date, were all revealed at once. The three elements in the teasers, green onion, meat, and salt sauce, line up exactly with what is in the salt sauce box.

The salt sauce box is distinguished by a sauce that blends three kinds of salt: Hanamo Salt from the Seto Inland Sea, Shima Mahsu from Okinawa, and Lorraine rock salt. Pork belly and pork shoulder loin from domestic pork, known for its well-balanced sweetness and umami of the fat, are laid out as a “duo,” and generously paired with sweet Kujo green onion. The official announcement describes it as “a dish we are confident in, with a carefully crafted salt sauce that brings out the flavor of the ingredients to the fullest and refreshes summer appetites.” In the image, it is served in a tiered box style, with a gold inner tray set in a black wood-grain container, and the grilled pork belly and pork shoulder loin are topped with a heap of white sesame seeds and finely chopped Kujo green onion. Using a flat box container rather than a bowl is a presentation suited to a prepared-meal format built around takeout, just like the store’s prepared foods lineup.

Menu items featuring “salt sauce” have appeared at regular Matsuya stores multiple times in the past. Examples include “Extra Green Onion Salt Sauce Pork and Grated Domestic Yam Paste Set Meal” in 2015, “Extra Green Onion Salt Sauce Pork Boneless Short Rib Set Meal” in 2018, and another “Extra Green Onion Salt Sauce Pork Boneless Short Rib Set Meal” in 2024, all of them staple combinations of pork and salt sauce. This time, that salt sauce is being brought to the Matsuya PREMIUM side in the form of a duo of Kujo green onion and domestic pork.

The Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg, launching at the same time, layers Kujo green onion and the soft-boiled egg “Maximum Koitamago” onto the Kobe beef that serves as the store’s signature. The official announcement says the umami of the Kobe beef, the crisp texture of the Kujo green onion, and the mellowness of the soft-boiled egg “come together as a trinity” for a luxurious taste. In the image, a generous amount of Kujo green onion and a soft-boiled egg in the center sit on top of beef and onion served in a round bowl, with a reddish-brown sauce poured over it. With the egg and green onion covering almost the entire surface of the bowl, its look is a clear departure from a regular Matsuya beef bowl.

The store’s “Kobe Beef Bowl” first appeared in April 2025, when it was sold for one week only at a food event on the B1 floor of Matsuya Ginza, at 1,100 yen per bowl. With the store becoming permanent in June 2026, it changed form to 1,390 yen, or 2,080 yen with double the meat. The Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg joins the lineup as a higher-end bowl that builds on this Kobe beef lineage with Kujo green onion and a soft-boiled egg.

A Price Range Above Standard Bowls

Of the two new items, the Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg at 1,650 yen sits in a price range above the standard bowls at regular Matsuya. Among regular menu bowls, “Double Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef” at 1,470 yen has been the highest price, and this new bowl exceeds it by 180 yen. The double-meat version at 2,340 yen is 260 yen above the Double-Meat Kobe Beef Bowl at 2,080 yen, the centerpiece at the store’s opening, putting it in a price range above anything the store has offered as a mainstay so far.

On the other hand, the salt sauce box at 1,300 yen is on the modest side within Matsuya PREMIUM, and falls at the same level as set meals at regular Matsuya (such as the 1,300-yen-class Hiyajiru Chicken Nanban Set). Note, however, that Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza is a prepared-meal format located inside Matsuya Ginza, a separate service from regular Matsuya stores. The official announcement also notes that shareholder benefit vouchers cannot be used there.

The items go on sale at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. All prices include tax, and the items are available only at Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza. The store, which launched with the Kobe beef bowl and other items at its June opening and added three prepared foods, including Simmered Kobe Beef, in August, is expanding its menu again with a box dish and a beef bowl centered on summer Kujo green onion.
