On September 19, 2026, the official Matsuya account visited Matsuya Yokohama Store (0167), located inside Sotetsu Movil in Nishi Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and posted three photos of the store along with the caption “There’s still time for one last look.” The store will close at 3 PM on September 30, 2026, following the closure of the Sotetsu Movil building itself.

“There’s Still Time for One Last Look” — Official Account Calls Out from the Storefront

The post opens with “I went and visited Matsuya Yokohama Store, inside Sotetsu Movil,” and continues, “Due to the building’s closure, it will close at 3 PM on September 30” and “There’s still time for one last look at the Matsuya inside this historic building!” This official text made clear that the reason for the closure is the shutdown of the Sotetsu Movil building itself.

The photo shows the storefront of Yokohama Store, lined with Matsuya’s yellow signage. A red banner hangs from the black pillar on the right, reading “Thank you for 37 years,” followed by a notice that Sotetsu Movil will close on September 30, 2026. Superimposed over the foreground is an illustration of Yakky with tears in his eyes.

The “I Went and Visited” Opening Line, Now Used for a Pre-Closure Visit

The opening line “I went and visited [store] (╹◡╹)” is a format the official X account has previously used for posts about visiting newly opened stores. This time, it is applied to a visit to a store facing closure. The post ends with a crying-face emoji (😢) and closes with an invitation to visit, using the word “one last look.”

After Closure, Yokohama-Nishiguchi Store Will Be the Only Matsuya Left in Nishi Ward, Yokohama City

On the official Matsuya website’s store list, the listing for Yokohama Store carries the note “*Scheduled to close at 3 PM on September 30. Thank you for your patronage.” No reopening date has been set for Yokohama Store. Unlike other stores currently listed with a scheduled reopening date after a temporary closure for renovation or similar reasons, no plan for reopening has been indicated for this store. After the closure, Yokohama-Nishiguchi Store (0254), located about 540 meters away, will be the only Matsuya remaining in Nishi Ward, Yokohama City.

The storefront display case shows samples of Beef Bowl, yakiniku-style bowls, Curry and Rice, and more, while a four-panel comic strip themed around Beef Bowl is posted on the pillar. The store continues to operate as usual up until its scheduled closing date, and a promotional poster for the ONE PIECE Collaboration remains on display out front.

Editor's Note

There's something touching about the official account going in person to say goodbye at the end of a building's 37-year run.
