Matsuya will put the ‘Brown Sauce Hamburg Steak Set Meal’ on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Matsuya stores nationwide except some locations. The restaurant chain announced it on its official website news page on June 25, saying the popular ‘Brown Sauce’ dish, whose sales ended to the regret of many fans, is returning after about seven months. The rich sauce, filled with the aroma and umami of mushrooms, comes in three versions: the classic, plus versions topped with a sunny-side up egg or cheese.

Lineup and prices

The returning dishes are three versions: the basic ‘Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce’, which is a ground beef-and-pork Hamburg steak topped with brown sauce, plus the ‘Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Sunny-side Up’ topped with a fried egg, and the ‘Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce and Cheese’ topped with melted cheese. Each comes as a ‘Set Meal’ with rice, a fresh vegetable salad and miso soup, or as a ‘Rice Set’ with rice but no salad. Each is available in three sizes: Single, Regular and Triple.

In the announcement image, the set meal shows the Hamburg steak in a bowl with the Matsuya logo, a fresh vegetable salad with corn, miso soup and rice. The cheese version has white cheese covering the sauce, while the egg version has a soft-cooked sunny-side up egg on the Hamburg steak. Both have chopped greens sprinkled over the brown sauce.

The mushroom-scented brown sauce returns

According to the official description, the Brown Sauce dish is a plump, juicy ground beef-and-pork Hamburg steak generously covered with a sauce that spreads the aroma and umami of mushrooms. The announcement says, “The rich, deeply flavorful sauce combined with the overflowing meat juices is sure to satisfy.” A Rice Set that can be taken home is also available at the same time, for the home dining table.

The main announcement image carries the copy “Answering your expectations: Brown is back.” and prominently features the Hamburg Steak with Brown Sauce Set Meal (1,180 yen). In addition, the official Matsuya Foods app will distribute a coupon for up to 100 yen off, which according to the image can be used from 10:00 a.m. on June 30 to 10:00 a.m. on July 7. This lets customers use the coupon from the first week of sales.
