Matsuya Sendagi Store to Close Temporarily for 10 Days Starting September 25

StoreTemporarily Closed

Matsuya Sendagi Store (0301) will suspend operations for 10 days, from 15:00 on September 25 to 15:00 on October 5. On Matsuya’s official website store listing, the store name has been updated to “Matsuya Sendagi Store ※Temporarily closed from 15:00 on September 25, reopening at 15:00 on October 5,” announcing both the start of the closure and the planned reopening date.

Sendagi Store is located at 2-33-8 Sendagi, Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, and normally operates 24 hours. Temporary closures often involve renovations or equipment updates, but this announcement does not specify a reason. The store will remain closed for approximately 10 days until it reopens at 15:00 on October 5.

Two 24-Hour Alternative Stores Within Walking Distance

For those looking to visit a nearby Matsuya during the closure, three stores are located within a 1km straight-line distance of Sendagi Store.

Store Straight-line Distance Business Hours
Matsuya Hakusan Store (0126) Approx. 944m 24-hour operation
Matsuya Nippori Store (0824) Approx. 949m 8:00–23:00
Matsuya Nishi-Nippori Store (1827) Approx. 956m 24-hour operation

All three are within walking distance, and since Hakusan Store and Nishi-Nippori Store operate 24 hours, they can cover the late-night hours when Sendagi Store is closed. Nippori Store operates from 8:00 to 23:00, with last orders 30 minutes before closing. Note that all distances given are straight-line distances and differ from actual walking route distances.

Seven Matsuya Stores in Bunkyo Ward, Six Operating Normally During the Closure

Including Sendagi Store, Matsuya operates seven stores within Bunkyo Ward. While Sendagi Store is closed, the remaining six stores in the ward will continue operating as usual.

  • Matsuya Sengoku Store
  • Matsuya Kasuga Store
  • Matsuya Hongo 3-chome Store
  • Matsuya Edogawabashi Store
  • Matsuya Hakusan Store
  • Matsuya Myogadani Store

Among these, Hongo 3-chome Store just finished renovations on September 4 and reopened as a store co-located with Matsunoya. Matsuya stores within Bunkyo Ward continue to see individual changes in business format and operations.

10 Days Is a Standard Length Amid a String of Temporary Closures

Since spring 2026, Matsuya locations across the country have announced a series of temporary closures along with planned reopening dates. Closure periods mostly range from about one to two weeks, and Sendagi Store’s 10 days falls within that range. Recently, Machida Store (September 2–15) and Kawasaki Ginzagai Store (September 4–14) announced similar temporary closures, making a closure of around 10 days neither particularly long nor short compared to other stores.

Sendagi Store is scheduled to reopen at 15:00 on October 5, and since the closure period has been clearly stated, the timeline until reopening is easy to anticipate.

Editor's Note

Ten days will go by in a flash. Until it reopens, the 24-hour operations at Hakusan Store and Nishi-Nippori Store should be a reassuring neighborhood option.
