Matsuya Iwade Store Reopens Today at 18:00 with Co-located My Curry Shokudo Switched to Matsunoya

StoreUpdated

Store data on the official Matsuya website confirmed on June 24, 2026 that the note regarding the temporary closure and reopening of Matsuya Iwade Store (0710, 4-1 Okada, Iwade City, Wakayama Prefecture) had been removed, indicating the store had resumed operations. The store had entered temporary closure at 15:00 on Monday, June 15, with the reopening date and time set in the store data as 18:00 on Wednesday, June 24. Along with the reopening, the co-located brand at the store — which had been ‘My Curry Shokudo’ before the closure — has been switched to ‘Matsunoya.’

The reopening time being set for the evening at 18:00 stands out, as other stores that reopened in June resumed operations around 10:00. Business hours are 5:00 to 3:00 the following day, and during the closure, on June 17, a note reading “last order 30 minutes before closing” was added to the store data’s business hours listing.

The Renovation Was Actually a Swap of the Co-located Store

At the time the temporary closure was announced, the store name remained “Matsuya Iwade Store (My Curry Shokudo co-located),” and the store data gave no indication of what the co-located store would become after the renovation. With this reopening, the store name has changed to “Matsuya Iwade Store (Matsunoya co-located),” revealing that the roughly nine-day renovation involved swapping the co-located store from My Curry Shokudo to Matsunoya. This marks a shift from My Curry Shokudo, centered on curry, to Matsunoya, centered on tonkatsu and katsudon.

The exterior photo of the Iwade store posted on the official Matsuya website shows the signage from before the renovation, when My Curry Shokudo was co-located there. It is a roadside-type store, with the Matsuya and My Curry Shokudo logos displayed together on the drive-through entrance signage and pole sign, and banner flags and a part-time job recruitment notice are also visible out front.

Matsunoya Co-located Stores in Wakayama Prefecture

With this switch, the number of Matsuya stores in Wakayama Prefecture co-located with Matsunoya has grown to three, adding the Iwade store to the Wakayama Kano store and the Arida Interchange store. In Wakayama Prefecture, the Kozaka store also entered temporary closure at 15:00 on the same day, June 15, meaning the prefecture’s store lineup has been shifting around the same time as the Iwade store’s co-located brand switch. The change from a My Curry Shokudo co-location to a Matsunoya co-location is an update in which the store’s main side menu is replaced through a renovation involving a temporary closure, and after reopening, the Iwade store now offers Matsunoya’s tonkatsu-based menu alongside Beef Bowl and Set Meal items at the same location.

Editor's Note

Before closing, it was a curry shop. When it reopened, it was a tonkatsu shop. After nine days of renovation, the co-located store came back completely made over.
