Matsuya Launches 6 Beef Plate Set Meals on October 13, Including the 790-Yen 'Tappuri Gyuzara Set Meal'

Starting at 3 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Matsuya will launch six beef plate set meals, led by the new classic menu item “Hearty Serving Beef Plate Meal,” at Matsuya stores nationwide, excluding some locations. This was revealed in an official announcement dated October 9. The flagship dish puts the amount of meat in a large Beef Bowl into a set meal format, starting at 790 yen. With the grated radish with ponzu and green onion with soft-boiled egg flavor variations added, the lineup totals six items, and Matsuya is also promoting an upgrade to its “Beef Bowl sauce.”

Six Beef Plate Set Meals and Their Prices

The six items combine two meat portions (Hearty / Extra-large) with three flavors (plain / grated radish with ponzu / green onion with soft-boiled egg). Prices include tax, as follows.

All are available for takeout, though the miso soup costs extra when taken out. Shareholder benefit vouchers can also be used. The flavor pairing of grated radish with ponzu and green onion with soft-boiled egg was also used in the beef plate line of “MATSUYA DELI,” the takeout-only series launched on September 1. This time, they arrive as set meals to eat in the restaurant.

Free Rice Refills, Plus Miso Soup and Salad

According to the announcement, the “Hearty Serving Beef Plate Meal” piles Matsuya’s proud beef onto one plate in the amount of a “large Beef Bowl.” Because it is a set meal, refills of new-crop rice made with domestic rice are free, as many times as you like. The promotional image also declares, “With a set meal, the rice is all-you-can-eat.” The set comes with rice, salad, and miso soup, and its selling point is letting you enjoy an amount of meat you can’t get with a regular Beef Bowl alone, together with rice.

In addition, the official Matsuya Foods app will distribute a 50-yen-off coupon. It will be available from 3 PM on Tuesday, October 13 to 10 AM on Tuesday, October 20.

The announcement also explains that the flagship “Beef Bowl sauce” has evolved for the 38th time, with a more powerful aroma and richer flavor.

Priced Alongside Existing Set Meals

At 790 yen, the dish costs the same as the current “Yakiniku Pork Loin Set Meal,” placing it in the most affordable price range among the set meals. The flavor variation “Hearty Serving Beef Plate Meal w/ Grated Radish and Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce” at 890 yen is set at the same 890 yen as the “Set Meal of Grilled Beef,” the “Set Meal of Grilled Boneless Short Rib,” and the “Black Mapo Tofu Set Meal.” The three Extra-large items (990 yen, 1,090 yen, and 1,190 yen), meanwhile, are placed at price points with no existing menu item at the same amount. The closest is the Extra-large Set Meal of Beef Plate w/ Green Onion and Soft-boiled Egg at 1,190 yen, compared with the “Tomato Hamburg Steak Meal” and “Set Meal of Hamburg Steak in Brown Sauce” at 1,180 yen (10 yen lower).

As for set meals bearing the “Beef Plate” name, the morning-only “Simmered Beef Meal” (400 yen) is on the current menu, but it is a separate item that differs in serving hours, portion size, and price range.

Beef Bowl Price Revision Also Takes Effect at 3 PM on October 13

Starting at the same 3 PM on October 13, 2026, the price revision for Beef Bowl items, announced in a separate notice, also takes effect. Beef Bowl items go up by 20 yen, with the Beef Bowl (regular serving) rising from 460 yen to 480 yen. The launch of the new set meal, billed as “easy on the wallet at 790 yen,” and the price revision of the flagship Beef Bowl will take place on the same day at the same time.

Also, on the previous day, October 8, an announcement was made that the “MEGA Serving Fair” (double the meat, extra-large serving of rice), held for one day only on “Meat Day,” August 29, will return, extended to one week. It will run from 10 AM on October 13 to 10 AM on October 20. On October 13, several campaigns that put meat front and center overlap.
