According to the store data on Matsuya’s official website, the store’s latitude was updated on July 26, 2026, from 35.3870805 to 35.3870795 — a change of 0.0000010 degrees. That works out to roughly 11 centimeters, a fine adjustment due south. The longitude did not move this time either.

An Exact 0.000001 Degrees, 15 Times Running

Since the store’s latitude first changed on April 25, 2026, it has now been updated southward by exactly 0.0000010 degrees on 15 consecutive occasions. The chain of values is unbroken — each new value lines up precisely with the old value in the following update. The longitude has never changed even once.

The Only Matsuya in Nagahama City

The store at the center of this story, Nagahama No. 8, is a Matsuya located in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. It is the only store carrying the Matsuya name within Nagahama City. The store’s name comes from its location along National Route 8, northeast of Lake Biwa.

There are 13 Matsuya stores in total across Shiga Prefecture, 11 of which are co-located with the tonkatsu chain Matsunoya — and Nagahama No. 8 is one of them. Spread across Osaka, Miyagi, and Kanagawa, these stores can’t be grouped by a shared road or region, which suggests this is less an anomaly affecting a single store and more a glimpse of the entire map dataset being slowly refined. The data alone can’t confirm why the coordinates are shifting in this particular direction and increment.

An 11-centimeter southward creep too small to notice even when zooming in on a map — it keeps quietly accumulating, both at the single store in Nagahama and at Matsuya locations in far-off towns.
