Matsuya to Launch 'Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef' for 880 Yen on July 28

Matsuya Foods will launch a new menu item, “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef,” from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores. The news was revealed in an official announcement dated July 23 as advance notice five days ahead of launch. The dish pairs tender roast beef with egg yolk and scallion, tossed together with Matsuya’s specially made Original Sauce and the horseradish-based Raifort Sauce. The Only comes with Miso Soup for 880 yen, and the lineup spans four varieties in total, adding Double, Founding Beef Curry and Rice, and Beef Bowl versions.

For Matsuya, whose mainstay is Beef Bowl and curry, roast beef taking center stage is unusual, and the official announcement describes it as “a menu of bliss to savor with all five senses.” The composition layers the refreshing kick of Raifort Sauce over the richness of the specially made Original Sauce, adding the mellowness of egg yolk and the crisp texture of scallion.

Four Varieties in the Lineup, From the 880-Yen Only to Double, Curry, and Beef Bowl

The Founding Beef Curry and Rice version sits atop brown curry roux, while the Beef Bowl version layers the roast beef on the same plate as the Beef Bowl’s beef.

Priced the Same as the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal at 880 Yen, With the Beef Bowl and Double Versions Filling Gaps in the Lineup

The 880-yen Only is priced the same as the existing “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (Soft-boiled Egg)” and “Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (Kimchi).” It falls within a price band bordered by the “Beef Yakiniku Set Meal” and “Boneless Short Rib Yakiniku Set Meal” (890 yen) 10 yen above, and the “Ginger Soy Sauce Stir-fried Set Meal” (850 yen) 30 yen below. The Founding Beef Curry and Rice version at 1,380 yen is priced the same as the “Cheese Brown Sauce Hamburg Steak Set Meal” and “Cheese Umatoma Hamburg Steak Set Meal.”

Meanwhile, the Beef Bowl version at 1,150 yen sits in a price range with few nearby existing items, filling the gap between the 1,100-yen “Founding Beef Karegyu Lunch Set” and the 1,180-yen band (including the “Umatoma Hamburg Steak Set Meal” and “Brown Sauce Hamburg Steak Set Meal”). The Double at 1,470 yen also has no mainstay menu item in the same price range, with the “Giant Serving Set” (1,430 yen), 40 yen below, being the closest comparable price point. While the composition doesn’t line up neatly with set meals or set products, the pricing lands squarely within the same range as Matsuya’s mainstay lineup.

One item in the lineup, “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef Founding Beef Curry and Rice,” is a combination menu item pairing ingredients with “Founding Beef Curry and Rice,” the base from which Matsuya’s curry lineup derives. This combination slot sees frequent turnover: on July 14, the store-limited “Founding Beef Loin Cutlet Curry and Rice” was discounted from 1,170 yen to 980 yen, and on April 7, all five items in the “Founding Beef Tongue Curry and Rice” line ended. The roast beef version joins this frequently changing lineup as its newest face.

The launch date is 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, covering Matsuya locations nationwide except some stores. The Matsuya Foods official app will simultaneously distribute a coupon for up to 100 yen off, valid from 10:00 a.m. on July 28 through 10:00 a.m. on August 4.
