Matsuya Adds Three Items Including "Taco Rice" to Today's Menu: Three Styles From 580 Yen, While Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl Gets a "To Be Discontinued Successively" Notice

At 9:39 a.m. on May 5, 2026, three items from the “Taco Rice” series, announced on April 30, were added to Matsuya’s official menu data. They appeared in the menu list about 20 minutes before the 10:00 a.m. launch, officially joining the lineup as new summer menu items. At the same time, the staple bowl item “Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl” received a “To Be Discontinued Successively” notice.

The official announcement of April 30 described a four-item lineup that also included “Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa Only” (790 yen). However, only the two Taco Rice items and the Hamburg Steak Set Meal, three items in all, appeared in the menu list, and the standalone hamburg steak cannot be found there. Items sold on their own appear to be excluded from the regular menu list.

No Limited-Time Marker Has Been Applied

The official announcement of April 30 centered on seasonal appeals such as “a feast that suits the sun” and “stimulating your appetite in early summer.” As of today’s menu addition, however, none of the three items carries either a Store-limited marker or a Limited-time marker. They have been registered as regular menu items.

By comparison, among Matsuya’s recent new menu items, the Salt-based Green Onion Bowl (730 yen), launched on April 21, carried a Limited-time marker, and so did the Chunky Stewed Chicken Curry and Rice (890 yen), which returned on April 14. At the time of registration, it is impossible to tell whether the absence of a Limited-time marker on these three items signals stable availability throughout the summer or whether markers will be added in stages later.

“To Be Discontinued Successively” Notice on the Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl

At the same time, the note field of the bowl-category “Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl” (Regular Serving, 460 yen) gained a new entry: “※To be discontinued successively.” The item’s core information, namely price, image, name and category, is unchanged, and the note addition is the only change this time.

At 460 yen for a Regular Serving, the Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl is one of the cheapest staples in the bowl menu (category “Bowl”). The category’s current lineup includes the “Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl,” “Beef Bibimbap Bowl,” “New Grilled Beef Bowl” and “Salt-based Green Onion Bowl,” and this discontinuation notice hints at when the cheapest item in the “Bowl” category will change.

Changes to the Bowl Category Lineup

Once the 460-yen Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl is gone, the bottom of the bowl price range will shift to the 580-yen Taco Rice. Since the addition of Taco Rice and the discontinuation notice on the Seasoned Ground Chicken & Egg Bowl were applied at the same time, this is quite likely a tidy-up aimed at reshuffling the bowl category’s price range.

Correspondence With the April 30 Announcement Article

On April 30, Gyumesy published an announcement article based on the official notice, “Matsuya to Launch ‘Taco Rice’ on May 5,” which introduced a four-item lineup including “Hamburg Steak with Taco Salsa Only.” Today’s menu list addition contains only three items. Because the standalone hamburg steak is offered as a single-item portion of the set meal’s contents, it appears to have been sorted out of the menu list data.

All three items share the same core: a double dressing of salsa sauce and taco rice sauce, crisp fresh vegetables and cheese, with variations built on added volume.
