On May 28, 2026, Matsuya announced it will hold a d Barai campaign for its 60th Founding Anniversary from Monday, June 1, 2026 through Saturday, June 20, 2026. After entering the campaign during the period, customers who make an advance payment of 800 yen (tax included) or more per transaction via d Barai through the Matsuya App will receive up to +15% back in d Points. On top of that, an enhanced tier gives “New & Returning Customers” up to +20% back. Separately, a PayPay 60th Founding Anniversary campaign was also announced this afternoon, meaning June brings simultaneous cashback campaigns from two major payment services around the Matsuya App.

A +5% Boost for New & Returning Customers

The up-to-+20% tier for “New & Returning Customers” adds a +5% boost on top of the up-to-+15% rate for existing customers. The design aims to simultaneously bring in new customers and win back users who haven’t visited in a while. The official announcement does not specify the exact window that qualifies as “Returning,” so the details of eligibility should be checked on the campaign page within the d Barai app.

Efficiency at the Cashback Cap

With a two-tier cap structure — 300 points per transaction and 5,000 points total during the campaign — the payment amounts that maximize efficiency are as follows.

Cashback Rate Payment Amount to Hit the Per-Transaction Cap Transactions Needed to Reach the 5,000-Point Total Cap
Up to +15% (Base) 300-point cap reached at 2,000 yen About 17 transactions
Up to +20% (New & Returning Customers) 300-point cap reached at 1,500 yen About 17 transactions

Since the per-transaction cap is fixed at 300 points, the cap is reached at 2,000 yen for the +15% rate and at 1,500 yen for the +20% rate. Beyond those amounts, the effective cashback rate per transaction tops out. The 5,000-point total cap during the campaign is shared by both tiers, and it’s a generously set threshold reached with about 17 uses over the 20-day period — roughly a daily pace.

Comparison with the PayPay Campaign Announced the Same Day

A separate PayPay coupon for Matsuya’s 60th Founding Anniversary was also announced today, May 28, 2026. This means both major payment services are rolling out their own 60th Founding Anniversary campaigns on the same day.

Campaign Period Peak Cashback Rate Per-Transaction Cap Total Cap During Campaign
60th Anniversary d Barai (Existing Customers) June 1 – June 20 +15% 300 points 5,000 points
60th Anniversary d Barai (New & Returning Customers) June 1 – June 20 +20% 300 points 5,000 points
60th Anniversary PayPay (10%, Full Month) June 1 – June 30 10% 200 points (No cap / unlimited uses)
60th Anniversary PayPay (40%, 2 Days) June 15 – June 16 40% 350 points (Once during the period)

The d Barai side offers a higher per-transaction cap (300 points) than PayPay’s 10% tier (200 points), and provides an extra +20% tier for New & Returning Customers. PayPay, meanwhile, combines a full-month 10% rate with a 40% rate on June 15–16. PayPay has the edge on peak cashback rate (up to 40%), while d Barai has the edge on total points accumulable within the month (5,000 points) — each payment service pushes its 60th anniversary campaign through a different appeal, forming a two-pronged rollout.

Editor's Note

The 60th anniversary celebration comes in two layers: d Barai and PayPay. It feels like you can pick based on your usage pattern — d Barai for everyday use, PayPay if you're chasing the peak rate.
