Matsuya Asahikawa Omachi Store and Yojo Store End 24-Hour Operation, Switch to '5:00 AM to 1:00 AM'

It has been confirmed that the operating hours at both Matsuya Asahikawa Omachi Store (2083) and Matsuya Asahikawa Yojo Store (2106) have simultaneously changed from “24-hour operation” to “5:00 AM to 1:00 AM.” Asahikawa City has one more location, Matsuya Kaimono Koen-dori Store (1707), which was already not operating 24 hours. With this change, none of the three Matsuya locations in Asahikawa City now operate around the clock.

Details of the Change

At both stores, the new hours are “5:00 AM to 1:00 AM,” meaning opening and closing times now match exactly. Asahikawa Yojo Store had previously been listed as “24-hour operation, *Matsunoya’s hours are 3:00 AM to 1:00 AM, last order 15 minutes before closing,” with the co-located Matsunoya’s hours shown separately. With this change, both Matsuya and Matsunoya are now unified under “5:00 AM to 1:00 AM.”

All Three Matsuya Locations in Asahikawa City Are Now Off 24-Hour Operation

Besides Omachi Store and Yojo Store, which changed this time, Asahikawa City has long had Kaimono Koen-dori Store operating on restricted hours, currently “8:00 AM to 11:30 PM (last order 30 minutes before closing).” Omachi Store and Yojo Store, both co-located with Matsunoya, sit in the city’s central district, roughly 2.6 km apart in a straight line. Kaimono Koen-dori Store, a standalone Matsuya location, is also within a few kilometers of the other two, meaning all of Asahikawa’s Matsuya locations are clustered in this same area.

Omachi Store’s Third Hours Change in About Three Months

Asahikawa Omachi Store is also a location that has seen repeated changes to its operating hours. On May 15, it ended 24-hour operation and shortened its hours to “5:00 AM to 2:00 AM,” then reverted to 24-hour operation on June 11. This time, it has again dropped round-the-clock operation, settling on “5:00 AM to 1:00 AM.” With its listed hours having switched three times in about three months, it appears the store has yet to settle on a fixed approach to late-night operation. Asahikawa Yojo Store, meanwhile, is seeing its first notable hours change this time around.

24-Hour Operation Remains the Norm Across Hokkaido

Of the 25 Matsuya locations in Hokkaido, the three Asahikawa stores are now the only ones not operating 24 hours; the remaining 22 (in Sapporo City, Hakodate City, Obihiro City, Chitose City, and elsewhere) continue to operate around the clock. Within Hokkaido, Matsuya Kitami Tokiwa Store (2252) had just ended 24-hour operation on July 30, switching to a day-of-week-based schedule, while, conversely, six stores nationwide had their hours extended on August 3 — a sign that revisions to late-night operating hours are playing out as a mix of expansions and reductions store by store. Amid that, the two Asahikawa stores have moved together in the direction of shorter hours.
