On October 16, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted a report of actually eating and taking on the “Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl MEGA Serving,” sold during the limited-time “MEGA Serving Fair.” The post opens with “I took on the Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl MEGA Serving for lunch!!” and mentions the sheer volume with “Extra-large serving of rice and double the meat of a Large Serving” and “I’m stuffed (╹◡╹).” It then calls on fans: “The MEGA Serving is on sale until 10:00 on October 20!” and “Please try the challenge this weekend!!”

The Post Wording Nearly Matches the Launch-Day Announcement

The central line of the post, “Extra-large serving of rice and double the meat of a Large Serving,” is nearly identical in content, apart from word order and particles, to the launch-day announcement the official X account posted on October 13, the first day of the fair: “Extra-large serving of rice! Double the meat of a Large Serving!!” The same specs were also announced in the official October 8 notice, “A ‘Double-Meat’ Mega Menu for Meat Lovers Returns: ‘MEGA Serving Fair’ Underway,” which described “a surprising volume of double the meat of a Large Serving” and “rice generously prepared in an Extra-large Serving.” Eating reports often come with an emoticon, and this one uses “(╹◡╹).”

The Bowl Holds Beef, Kimchi and Shredded Nori

The photo attached to the post shows the “Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl MEGA Serving”: a large bowl piled with plenty of beef, kimchi in the center, and shredded nori on top. The rice is an Extra-large Serving, and the beef, kimchi and shredded nori cover the entire bowl. In front sits the Miso Soup that comes with Matsuya bowls, and in the back a bottle of tea. In the lower right of the photo, Matsuya’s official mascot Yakky appears in a stamp reacting with a surprised “‼️.”

From the August Meat Day Campaign to a One-Week Fair

The “MEGA Serving Fair” runs from 10:00 on October 13, 2026 to 10:00 on October 20 at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores. It covers two items: the “Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl MEGA Serving” (1,200 yen) and the “Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl MEGA Serving” (1,140 yen). Both are special versions with an Extra-large Serving of rice and double the meat of the usual Large Serving, and they are campaign-only items not listed on the regular menu pages.

The fair brings back, over a full week, the one-day-only “Bakumori” servings sold on this year’s August 29 Meat Day, after they proved popular. The official X account also posted about taking on the Bakumori serving on August 29, so this post is a repeat of that.

For reference, the regular Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl costs 690 yen for a Regular Serving, 910 yen for a Large Serving and 1,090 yen for an Extra-large Serving (660 yen for a Small Serving). The MEGA Serving is a fair-only version in a separate category from these.

Sales End at 10:00 on October 20

As the post urges, the MEGA Serving is on sale until 10:00 on Tuesday, October 20. As of the 16th, that leaves about three and a half days, including the weekend.
