At 8:33 p.m. on July 19, Matsuya’s official X account announced that the store-limited drink ‘Vanilla Shake’ is “now on sale at 50 stores!” The post called out to summer drivers with the line “How about one to keep you company on your drive?” and included a link to the page listing stores that carry it.

The Vanilla Shake is a rare shake-type drink for Matsuya, a chain built around its Beef Bowl, and is a store-limited item sold only at select locations. Sales began at 10:00 a.m. on April 21, 2026 under the name ‘Matsu Shake,’ and on July 14 the product name on the official website was changed to ‘Vanilla Shake.’ Rather than announcing a new round of store expansion, this latest post appears aimed at re-publicizing the current 50-store lineup now that summer is in full swing.

“A Companion for Your Drive” — A Cup Held Inside a Nighttime Car

From 5 Stores Nationwide to 50 Stores Across 11 Prefectures

The Vanilla Shake’s rollout traces back to its April 21, 2026, 10:00 a.m. launch. Eleven days earlier, on April 10, the official X account posted a teaser hinting at the product name: “?!.. Matsu Shake…?” “April Fools’ is already over, isn’t it…?” “Stay tuned for more,” foreshadowing the actual launch that followed.

At launch, the drink was available at just 5 stores nationwide. It then expanded step by step — to 12 stores in early June and 30 stores in early July — before Tochigi, Gunma, Iwate, and Yamagata prefectures were newly added on July 14, bringing the total to 50 stores. That same day, the product name was also changed from ‘Matsu Shake’ to ‘Vanilla Shake.’ Counting from the 5 stores in April, the number of stores carrying the drink has grown roughly tenfold in about three months. This latest “now on sale at 50 stores” announcement can be seen as a renewed push behind that expanding sales network, timed to summer driving demand.

As of now, the Vanilla Shake is available at 50 stores across 11 prefectures: Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Ibaraki, Shizuoka, Saitama, Yamanashi, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamagata, and Iwate. Chiba Prefecture has the most, with 13 stores, followed by Tokyo and Kanagawa with 7 each. The distribution centers on the southern Kanto region while also reaching Shizuoka and Yamanashi, and — with the July additions — extending as far as Yamagata and Iwate in the Tohoku region.
