All 10 Matsuya Stores in the Prefecture Affected

Matsuya operates a total of 10 stores in Okinawa Prefecture, including locations co-located with Matsunoya and My Curry Shokudo. This time, every one of those stores is affected, meaning all Matsuya locations in the prefecture have closed their doors on the same day. The affected stores span seven municipalities, led by three stores in Naha City and two in Uruma City.

Second Occurrence After June’s Typhoon-related Suspension, Expanding from 4 Stores to All Stores

This is not the first time Matsuya stores in Okinawa Prefecture have suspended operations together. On June 1, 2026, four stores — Uruma Akamichi, Tomigusuku, Naha Shintoshin, and Naha Oroku — displayed the notice “*Temporarily Closed Due to Typhoon Impact” in their store names. About 17 hours later, on June 2, the notice was lifted at all four and their names reverted to normal.

This latest suspension comes 66 days after that June 2 reopening, and this time it has expanded to cover all 10 stores in the prefecture. Notably, the word “typhoon” does not appear in this round’s store-name notice, which instead reads “Closed August 7. Reopening August 8, weather permitting” — suggesting the decision is weather-related. Another difference from June, when only the name annotation was given, is that a specific reopening date, August 8, has been named this time.

Among the 10 affected stores, the Ginowan Store opened on May 22, 2026 as the prefecture’s 10th Matsuya location, meaning this suspension comes only a short time after its opening.

All 10 Stores Now List August 8 as Planned Reopening Date

Subsequently, the store information for all 10 suspended stores was updated with notice naming the following day, August 8, as the planned reopening date. In addition to the “weather permitting” wording in the store names, the specific reopening date of the 8th has now been given, making the outlook for the next day’s resumption clearer. With every store in the prefecture aligned on the same August 8 target, the reopenings look set to be as synchronized as the suspensions themselves.

If operations resume at each store on the 8th, the store-name notices are expected to revert to normal as well.
