Matsuya Foods, which operates Matsuya, announced on its official X account on August 11 that it had begun distributing free service vouchers under the banner of the “Midsummer Waku Waku Project” at 10:00 AM that same day. The announcement of this in-store perk coincided with the rollout of an X Coupon bringing a Regular Serving Beef Bowl down to 390 yen.

Collect 3 for a Small Serving Boneless Short Rib — Three Free Side Dishes

The vouchers being distributed come in three types, each making one item free: Small Serving Potato Salad, Small Serving Kimchi, or Roasted Seaweed. Each voucher carries a suggested use — “Great as a palate cleanser, or as a topping for fresh vegetables!” for the potato salad, “An accent for meat dishes!” for the kimchi, and “Wrap it around your rice for double the flavor!” for the roasted seaweed. The roasted seaweed voucher carries a note that it cannot be taken to go.

Collecting all three vouchers earns a serving of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib as a gift. Distribution runs through 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, and the vouchers themselves are valid until the end of September 2026.

This round of voucher distribution is positioned as one of several projects commemorating Matsuya Foods’ 60th Founding Anniversary. The official account describes this coupon as the first of its kind “in two years.”

Alongside this, a campaign doubling points on Matsuben Net within the official Matsuya app, and a Follow & Repost Campaign for the new menu item released on August 11, are also running around the same time, making for a week packed with summer promotions.

The Next Morning, the Voucher Distribution Is Announced Again

At 7:30 AM on August 12, the morning after distribution began, Matsuya’s official X account brought up the vouchers again. Opening with “Good morning!” and touching on the ongoing 390 yen Beef Bowl X Coupon, the post reported that “distribution of the service vouchers at Matsuya began yesterday.” It restated that the voucher comes with a “collect 3 and get a Small Serving Boneless Short Rib” deal and that distribution runs through 10:00 AM on August 25, closing with the same question as the day before: “How many plates of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib are you planning to get?”

As with the previous day, the quoted post was the announcement of the X Coupon dropping the Regular Serving Beef Bowl from 460 yen to 390 yen, lining up the voucher distribution and the X Coupon for a joint re-announcement during the morning hours.
