Matsuya Starts Handing Out Free Service Vouchers Today — Collect 3 for a Plate of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib

Matsuya Foods, the operator of Matsuya, announced on its official X account on August 11 that it began distributing free service vouchers at 10:00 that day under the banner “Midsummer Waku Waku Project.” The announcement came alongside the X Coupon that brings a Regular Serving Beef Bowl down to 390 yen, adding an in-store giveaway to the day’s promotions.

Collect 3 for a Plate of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib; Three Free Sides

The vouchers come in three types, each good for one free item: Small Serving Potato Salad, Small Serving Kimchi, or Dried Seaweed. Each voucher carries a suggested use: “Great as a palate cleanser! Great as a fresh vegetable topping!” (Small Serving Potato Salad), “A perfect accent for meat dishes!” (Small Serving Kimchi), and “Wrap it around your rice for a double treat!” (Dried Seaweed). The Dried Seaweed voucher carries a note that it “cannot be taken out.”

Collect all 3 vouchers and you receive a plate of “Small Serving Boneless Short Rib.” Distribution runs until 10:00 on Tuesday, August 25, and the vouchers are valid through the last day of September 2026.

The post on the official X account came with an illustration of Macky raising both hands in delight, with the cheerful “Yay!” Below it, the account asked followers, “How many plates of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib are you planning to get?”

From “Free Choice” to “Collect and Exchange”

Matsuya also handed out free service vouchers this spring. That round began in late April and took the form of a four-coupon set from which customers could freely choose among four side dishes; the vouchers could be used through the end of June.

In late June, the official X account then ran a two-option poll asking followers about the format of the next voucher. The options were “the same system as before, choosing from 4 types” and a new idea in which one of the 4 vouchers would become an exchange-type coupon: “collect ◯ to get ◯◯.” This time’s “collect 3 for Small Serving Boneless Short Rib” matches that exchange-type proposal.

A Week of Overlapping Promotions, Including the 390-Yen Beef Bowl Coupon

The voucher distribution is positioned as one of the projects commemorating the 60th anniversary of Matsuya Foods’ founding. On the same day, August 11, the X Coupon introduced in the quoted post also went live, cutting a Regular Serving Beef Bowl from 460 yen to 390 yen. The official account described this coupon as the first “in two years.”

Other promotions are running at the same time, including a campaign doubling points on Matsuben Net, part of the Matsuya official app, and a Follow & Repost Campaign tied to the new menu item released on August 11, making this a week packed with summer promotions.

Next Morning, Another Announcement of the Voucher Distribution

At 7:30 on August 12, the morning after distribution began, the official Matsuya X account brought up the vouchers again. Opening with “Good morning!” and mentioning the Beef Bowl 390-yen X Coupon then in effect, it reported, “We started distributing service vouchers at Matsuya yesterday.” It reiterated that the “service vouchers where collecting 3 gets you Small Serving Boneless Short Rib” are available and that distribution runs until 10:00 on August 25, closing with the same question as the day before: “How many plates of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib are you planning to get?”

As on the previous day, the quoted post was the announcement of the X Coupon lowering a Regular Serving Beef Bowl from 460 yen to 390 yen, so the voucher distribution and the X Coupon were again promoted together in the morning hours.

The same announcement was also posted once more, with an image attached, at 7:32 right afterward, so the same content went out twice in a row that morning.
