It is one of the projects marking the company’s 60th founding anniversary, and it hands out vouchers for one free side dish to customers who buy a main item such as a Beef Bowl. This time the lineup consists of three vouchers, Small Serving Potato Salad, Small Serving Kimchi and Dried Seaweed, and there is a new collection bonus: gather three vouchers and you get a plate of “Small Serving Boneless Short Rib.” Distribution runs until 10:00 on Tuesday, August 25, and the vouchers are valid through the end of September 2026.

On top of that, collecting three of these vouchers earns you a plate of “Small Serving Boneless Short Rib” as a gift. Distribution and Validity Schedule

Distribution begins at 10:00 on Tuesday, August 11 and ends at 10:00 on Tuesday, August 25. The vouchers you receive are valid until the end of September 2026. In many past rounds of free service vouchers, Matsuya only said distribution would end “while supplies last at each store,” but this time the start of distribution, the end and the usage deadline are all clearly set by date. If you want to trade them in for the Small Serving Boneless Short Rib, you will need to collect all three within the two-week distribution period.

What Has Changed From the Previous Four Rounds

Matsuya’s free service voucher distribution has been a recurring project since December 2025, repeated under the same wording, “to commemorate Matsuya Foods’ 60th founding anniversary,” and this is the fifth round. The gap from the previous distribution (which began on April 21) is about three and a half months (111 days), the longest so far.

The content has changed from the previous four rounds as well. Before, it was a simple exchange for one item chosen from four: Potato Salad, Pickled Vegetables, Kimchi and Miso Soup. This time the eligible items are narrowed down to three, Small Serving Potato Salad, Small Serving Kimchi and Dried Seaweed, and the sides are now all “small serving” items. The “collect three vouchers for one plate of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib” mechanism is a new twist that none of the previous four distributions had.

There is also some background to this new format. On June 26, Matsuya’s official X account ran a call for opinions asking followers whether the next round of service vouchers should follow the current format or adopt a “new format where you collect vouchers and exchange them for items such as a beef plate.” The three-vouchers-for-Small-Serving-Boneless-Short-Rib setup is close to the “collect and exchange” idea floated at that time.
