Matsuya Marugame Kubara Store (No. 1832) began a temporary closure at 3 PM on July 29. It is scheduled to reopen at 3 PM on August 12, meaning the closure period spans exactly two weeks (14 days). As of August 6, the entire store remains closed.

Unlike a late-night operation suspension that only halts business during specific hours, this temporary closure has the store shutting down entirely for the whole period. Business ended at 3 PM on July 29, and the announcement states that operations will resume at 3 PM on August 12.

The scheduled reopening date of August 12 falls just before the Obon travel and homecoming season. It appears the store is timing its reopening, after a two-week break, to coincide with the moment when many people start traveling.

Only 5 Matsuya Locations in Kagawa Prefecture, 2 in Marugame City

Only 5 Matsuya locations are currently operating in Kagawa Prefecture — a mere 0.4% of the chain’s 1,208 stores nationwide, making it a rare region for the brand. The breakdown is 2 stores in Marugame City and 3 in Takamatsu City.

One of Marugame City’s two stores is Marugame Kubara Store, which has now entered this temporary closure. The other, Marugame Nakabu Store, is a combo store co-located with Matsunoya and My Curry Shokudo, giving it a different format from Marugame Kubara Store, a standalone Beef Bowl-only outlet. The two stores sit close together, about 1.3 km apart in a straight line, meaning that while Marugame Kubara Store is closed, Marugame Nakabu Store is the only Matsuya keeping its doors open within Marugame City.
