Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted at 6:38 PM on September 25, tying the post to the day being “Homemakers’ Day Off.” It opens with “Eating out or getting a bento is an option today, too!” and goes on to recommend “bulk-buying single side dishes” from MATSUYA DELI, the new takeout series.

The Visual Attached to the Post

The post comes with a single illustration announcing the day. On the left half, a person in a yellow apron stands in front of a wall, while on the right, Macky & Yakky, Matsuya’s official mascots, peek out from behind it. Macky holds out a tray with a Beef Bowl, Miso Soup, a Side Dish, and tea, with “ありがとう” (thank you) in red lettering beside it and “September 25 is Homemakers’ Day Off” in large white lettering across the top. Against a green background, the composition thanks the homemaker, who for once is on the receiving end of a served meal.

A Template Post Tied to Anniversaries and Seasonal Occasions

Since spring 2026, Matsuya’s official X account has repeatedly introduced menu items by tying them to anniversaries and seasonal occasions. Recent posts include Autumn Equinox Day on September 23, Respect for the Aged Day on September 21, Italian Cuisine Day on September 17, and Big Eater’s Day on September 14. Each follows the same pattern, opening with “September X is ‘such-and-such Day’” and steering readers toward a menu item, and this “Homemakers’ Day Off” post follows the same format.

These anniversary posts often include a emoticon such as “( ¯꒳¯ )” within the text, but this post has none. Instead, it carries a single line introducing the series: “MATSUYA DELI is a great deal when you bulk-buy single side dishes!”

Bulk-Buying Single Side Dishes from MATSUYA DELI

MATSUYA DELI, the series the post recommends, is a new takeout lineup released on September 1. Its hallmark is that side dishes such as the Beef Plate DELI (370 yen) can be taken home individually, and from launch Matsuya has pitched it for the dinner table with the line “for a meal’s side dish, or as a bite to go with drinks!”

From September 1 to September 15, right after launch, a Trial Fair ran, offering 300 yen off for 2 items and 450 yen off for 3 items. This post does not announce that fair. Instead, using the “Homemakers’ Day Off” angle, it calls attention once more to buying several side dishes together. Since the start of September, Matsuya’s official X account has repeatedly featured bulk-buying MATSUYA DELI, changing the seasonal or anniversary angle each time.

The post closes with “Please do give it a try ✨,” suggesting that, besides eating out, taking home bento and prepared foods can make for a table on a day off from housework.

Editor's Note

For the people who keep the daily dinner table running, today is a day to be the one who gets served a bowl for once.
