At 5:40 PM on September 8, Matsuya’s official X account once again announced that the bulk-purchase discount “Trial Fair” for the new takeout series “MATSUYA DELI” will end on Tuesday, September 15 at 10 AM. The fair began at 10 AM on September 1, the same day as the nationwide launch, leaving one week until the deadline. The post, which opens with “Maybe you don’t have to cook everything for today’s meal,” makes the case that side dishes like Simmered Beef & Onion and Hamburg Steak — perfect for when you “want just one more dish” — can be bought cheaply in bulk.

Bulk Purchases Save Up to 450 Yen, With Specific Combinations Shown

The image attached to the post shows three discounted combinations with prices. “Simmered Beef & Onion & Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Simmered Beef & Onion” normally costs 840 yen but is 540 yen (save 300 yen); “Umatoma Hamburg Steak & Simmered Beef & Onion” normally costs 1,000 yen but is 700 yen (save 300 yen); and “Simmered Beef & Onion & Green Onion & Egg Simmered Beef & Onion & Oni-oroshi Grated Radish Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce Simmered Beef & Onion” normally costs 1,410 yen but is 960 yen (save 450 yen). Buying two items in bulk takes 300 yen off, and three items takes off 450 yen. The bottom of the image adds “As a side dish for a meal, or a bite to go with drinks,” pointing to both uses — as a table side dish and as an accompaniment for an evening drink.

MATSUYA DELI offers 13 items in total, priced from 370 to 690 yen, and no discount applies to single items. Because the discount only applies when items are bundled into a bulk-purchase set, it gives customers an incentive to pick multiple items before the deadline. It’s available nationwide except at some stores, and stores co-located with My Curry Shokudo do not carry Founding Beef Curry and Rice DELI.

From a Store-Limited Preview to 13 Items Nationwide

This isn’t the first time the name “MATSUYA DELI” has appeared. It debuted earlier as the store-limited “MATSUYA DELI Hamburg Steak & Boneless Short Rib Plate” (800 yen, limited to 30 stores) at 10 AM on July 7, 2026, and was discontinued at 10 AM on September 1 when the nationwide series launched. That earlier version was a single plate combining Hamburg Steak and Boneless Short Rib, a different lineup from the 13 items — including Simmered Beef & Onion, Hamburg Steak, and Yakiniku — that launched on September 1.

The nationwide version was announced on September 1 in an official Matsuya notice as “a new series to brighten up the dinner table.” It turns ingredients familiar from bowls and set meals into standalone takeout side dishes, and the “Trial Fair” whose deadline is now approaching began at the same time as the launch. On September 1, five items including Umatoma Cheese Simmered Beef & Onion were also added, expanding the lineup.

The Fourth Announcement Since Launch

The official X account has repeatedly featured the series since September 3, and this post marks the fourth. On September 3, it posted introducing all 13 menu items with prices, along with a post proposing a table of “just buying the side dishes,” and on September 4 it announced an app-only bulk-purchase discount. The discount terms — 300 yen off for two items and 450 yen off for three — haven’t changed since the first post; this time, the fair’s deadline is placed front and center.

The post text is a rewritten summary of the official notice; the original phrase “for ‘one more dish’ on the table” has been rephrased as “want just one more dish,” and “the super-great-value ‘Trial Fair’ bulk purchase” has been rephrased as “bulk purchases are a great deal right now.” The kaomoji at the start and the emoji at the end fall within the range Matsuya’s official X normally uses, and there’s no major shift in tone.

Editor's Note

Stack two servings of Simmered Beef & Onion, or mix it up with Umatoma or Oni-oroshi Grated Radish? Looks like it'll be a weekend spent agonizing over side dish combinations.
