Matsuya Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store to Temporarily Close from 3 PM on September 25 to 3 PM on October 5

StoreTemporarily Closed

Matsuya Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store (1924) will suspend operations for 10 days, from 3 PM on September 25 to 3 PM on October 5, 2026, it has been learned. The store information page on Matsuya’s official website shows both this temporary closure period and the scheduled reopening at 3 PM on October 5. This is a temporary closure of the store itself, not a change to operating hours affecting only the late-night slot.

A 10-day closure, reopening at 3 PM on October 5

The closure begins at 3 PM on September 25 and reopening is set for the same time, 3 PM, on October 5, making the closed period exactly 10 days. Having the reopening date specified from the outset is a pattern seen in planned temporary closures that anticipate work such as renovation.

Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store is a standalone Matsuya location without a co-located brand such as Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo, and over roughly the past six months it has repeatedly been named as a handling store for store-limited menu items. It has served as an outlet for store-limited offerings such as Grilled Eel Bowl and Grilled Thick Pork with Chimichurri Sauce, and during the September 25 to October 5 closure period, this channel for such promotions will also be temporarily interrupted.

Four Matsuya stores will remain open in Kagawa Prefecture during the closure

There are 5 Matsuya stores in Kagawa Prefecture, a region with a comparatively thin store presence compared to Tokyo’s 337 stores or Kanagawa Prefecture’s 112. The breakdown is 3 stores in Takamatsu City (Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store, Takamatsu Kita Store, Takamatsu Matsushima Store) and 2 in Marugame City (Marugame Nakabu Store, Marugame Kubara Store). During the 10 days Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store is closed, 4 Matsuya stores will remain open in the prefecture.

The nearest sister store is Matsuya Takamatsu Matsushima Store (2024), also in Takamatsu City, about 2km away in a straight line. Matsushima Store has Matsunoya co-located, so customers there can also choose Tonkatsu alongside Beef Bowl. The next closest is Matsuya Takamatsu Kita Store (1855), roughly 4km away in a straight line. For customers who had been heading to Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store during the closure period, these two stores are the realistic alternatives.

A store in Tokyo is closing on the exact same schedule

A store in Tokyo also has a temporary closure scheduled for the exact same period as this one, 3 PM on September 25 to 3 PM on October 5, 2026: Matsuya Sendagi Store (0301). The start and end dates and times match down to the minute, lining up two stores far apart from each other, in Tokyo and Kagawa, on the same 10-day closure schedule.

The second temporary closure in Kagawa Prefecture in two months

Kagawa Prefecture also had a temporary closure this summer. Matsuya Marugame Kubara Store (1832) suspended operations for 14 days, from 3 PM on July 29 to 3 PM on August 12, 2026, and reopened as scheduled at 3 PM on August 12. This closure at Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store is the second temporary closure within the same prefecture in the past one to two months. Given that Marugame Kubara Store returned without issue after two weeks, Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store is also expected to reopen on October 5.

Temporary closures continue nationwide

At Matsuya, temporary closures tied to renovation and similar work are occurring intermittently across the country. In September 2026, temporary closures have already been occurring one after another in eastern Japan, and now one more has joined from Kagawa. The length of closure varies by store, ranging from a few days to over a month. At 10 days, Takamatsu Hyogomachi Store’s closure falls within the standard range.

Editor's Note

Just ten days of quiet. It looks like the baton passes to the Matsushima and Kita stores, also in Takamatsu, while it waits to reopen.
