Matsuya Adds "To Be Discontinued in Stages" Notice to All Four Revived Shkmeruli Dishes
Matsuya updated its menu on June 23, 2026, adding a “To be discontinued in stages” notice to all four Shkmeruli dishes that were revived on June 16, 2026 to mark the company’s 60th anniversary. At the same time, the two Chimichurri Sauce Grilled Thick Pork dishes that had been on sale since spring were removed from the menu, and a new Samgyetang-style Soup Only item joined the lunch Choice of Side lineup.
All Four Shkmeruli Dishes Marked “To Be Discontinued in Stages”
Shkmeruli, revived on June 16, 2026, comes in four variations: two Hot Pot-style dishes (store-limited) and two Regular-style dishes (available at all stores). In this update, all four dishes had a “To be discontinued in stages” notice added to their notes.

Shkmeruli launched with an announced sales window of “a little over a week.” With more than a week having passed since launch, the official menu notice now visibly confirms that the end is approaching. The dedicated Extra Cheese topping (120 yen) also carries the same discontinuation notice.
Chimichurri Sauce Grilled Thick Pork Removed from the Menu
In the same update, two dishes — Chimichurri Sauce Grilled Thick Pork Set Meal (1,280 yen) and Chimichurri Sauce Grilled Thick Pork (1,180 yen) — were removed from the official menu. Both launched on May 19, 2026, and as of June 12, 2026 already carried a “To be discontinued in stages” advance notice. This update carried out that notice as announced, marking roughly 35 days since launch.

A Wholesale Switch to Summer Menu Items
This update coincides with the rollout of summer staples such as the grilled eel dishes and Samgyetang-style Soup. The Chimichurri Grilled Thick Pork that debuted in spring has been removed from the menu, the revived Shkmeruli now carries a discontinuation notice, and the lunch soup side has shifted to the summer-suited Samgyetang-style Soup. The menu is being reshuffled wholesale in step with the change of season.
Editor's Note
The revived Shkmeruli is entering its final stretch — anyone who hasn't tried it yet should hurry. The lunch soup slot has also passed the baton from Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables to Samgyetang-style Soup.
