Matsuya’s store listings show the latitude of eight stores shifting slightly south at the same time. Every change measures exactly 0.000001 degrees, roughly 11 centimeters, and all eight stores moved in the same southward direction without exception. The same southward shift has appeared repeatedly on Matsuya’s official site today, and this marks the third occurrence.

All 8 Stores Move South by About 11 Centimeters

The latitude of each of the eight stores updated today is 0.000001 degrees smaller than before the change. A smaller latitude value means a move to the south, and longitude (the east-west position) is unchanged in every case. Only the north-south position moved, and the distance is the same roughly 11 centimeters at every store.

Third Shift Today, Count Grows from 5 Stores to 8

The same 0.000001-degree southward shift first appeared on the official site around 2 p.m. today at five stores: Miyakojima Tomobuchicho, Route 8 Nagahama, Sendai Ichibancho, Tomisato Interchange, and Shin-Yurigaoka. Around 6 p.m., Sendai Ichibancho underwent a second southward shift for the day. This latest round adds three more stores — Oyama Kizawa, Kumagaya Ishihara, and Shin-Matsudo — bringing the total to eight. For Sendai Ichibancho, this is now the third southward shift today, following the 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. updates.

Stores that keep receiving these small, one-directional latitude updates number only around 11 out of Matsuya’s roughly 1,200 locations nationwide, less than 1% of the total. All eight stores that moved south today belong to this group.

Miyakojima Tomobuchicho in particular has had its latitude move consistently southward from April 25 through today. Each update has measured exactly 0.000001 degrees, and the store has now received ten such updates, all in the same direction. The cumulative shift comes to about 0.00001 degrees, or roughly 1.1 meters. Route 8 Nagahama and Sendai Ichibancho show the same pattern, moving south repeatedly without ever shifting back north.

8 Stores Spread from Kansai to Tohoku and Kanto, All Co-located with Matsunoya

Today’s eight stores span seven prefectures: Osaka, Shiga, Miyagi, Chiba (two stores), Tochigi, Saitama, and Kanagawa. From Miyakojima Tomobuchicho and Route 8 Nagahama in the Kansai region, to Sendai Ichibancho in Tohoku, to Tomisato Interchange, Oyama Kizawa, Kumagaya Ishihara, Shin-Yurigaoka, and Shin-Matsudo in the Kanto region, the spread is notably wide rather than concentrated in one area.

All eight stores are also co-located with Matsunoya, the tonkatsu and set-meal chain. Co-located stores make up under 40% of Matsuya locations overall, but in Shiga Prefecture, 11 of 13 stores are co-located, and in Tochigi Prefecture, 10 of 11 are — both 80-90%, far above the national average.

4 Stores Are New and Yet to Open, Launching Sequentially from July 17 to August 1

Four of the eight stores — Tomisato Interchange, Oyama Kizawa, Kumagaya Ishihara, and Shin-Matsudo — are new stores that have not yet opened. Tomisato Interchange is set to open at 10 a.m. on July 17, Oyama Kizawa and Kumagaya Ishihara at 10 a.m. on July 31, and Shin-Matsudo at 10 a.m. on August 1, with opening dates clustered from mid-July into early August. In the run-up to opening, these stores’ location data is being carefully fine-tuned. The remaining four stores — Miyakojima Tomobuchicho, Route 8 Nagahama, Sendai Ichibancho, and Shin-Yurigaoka — are already operating, meaning the same-magnitude latitude update appeared across both pre-opening and operating stores alike.
