Matsuya Launches Authentic Japanese Dessert "Soy Milk Pudding" with Kinako and Kuromitsu for 180 Yen on July 14

Matsuya Foods will launch the authentic Japanese dessert “Soy Milk Pudding” (180 yen including tax) at Matsuya, which serves Beef Bowls, Curry and Rice, Set Meals and more, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The company revealed the plan in an official announcement dated July 9. The pudding has a mellow, rich texture that only soy milk can deliver, and it comes with fragrant kinako (roasted soybean flour) and richly flavored kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup). It will be sold at Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores and Okinawa.

Rich Pudding Enjoyed with Kuromitsu and Kinako

The official announcement positions it as “an authentic Japanese dessert perfect for after a meal or a little café time,” and promotes it with the phrases “mellow and rich, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness.” The pudding is served in a clear cup, generously topped with silky kuromitsu, with finely ground kinako sprinkled over it. You can add as much as you like, enjoying the melting texture together with the Japanese flavors.

Nationwide Rollout About Three Months After the March Store-Limited Sale

An item with the same name, “Soy Milk Pudding,” appeared at select stores starting at 10 a.m. on March 17, 2026. That sale was limited to roughly 200 stores, and it was delisted on April 3, meaning it was available in stores for only about 17 days. The new “Soy Milk Pudding” arrives roughly three months after that advance sale and expands the sales area to Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding Okinawa. Note that the spelling has varied: the advance sale used katakana (“豆乳プリン”), while this announcement uses hiragana (“豆乳ぷりん”).

Priced Just Above “3 Pieces of Jelly” Among Sweet Sides

Among the current sweet-leaning side items on the Matsuya menu is “3 Pieces of Jelly” (150 yen), and the Soy Milk Pudding at 180 yen sits in a price range 30 yen higher. The 180-yen price is on par with the side items “Sausage and Egg” and “Sausage and Soft-boiled Egg.”

There are also discounts. Ordering through the official Matsuya app brings the price down 30 yen from the regular price to 150 yen, and ordering together with a main menu item brings it down 20 yen to 160 yen, a two-tier discount.

Twice-cooked Pork Also Launches on July 14

July 14, the launch date of the Soy Milk Pudding, also coincides with the launch of Matsuya’s summer staple Chinese dish, Twice-cooked Pork. Both items were published as announcements one after another on the same day, July 9. Twice-cooked Pork has been announced almost every year in June or July since 2018 as a recurring summer menu, and this summer it will also hit stores on the same day, July 14.
