Matsuya Renews Authentic Chinese-style Sauce for Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal (880 Yen), Launching July 14

Matsuya Foods will launch the limited-time menu item Twice-cooked Pork at Matsuya, which offers Beef Bowl, Curry and Rice, Set Meals, and other rice bowls, from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. This was announced in an official notice. Prices are 880 yen for the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal, 1,370 yen for the Twice-cooked Pork Set Meal Double, and 680 yen for Twice-cooked Pork Only (all tax included). This year, the dish has been “upgraded to an authentic Chinese-style sauce pursuing sweetness, depth, and just the right amount of spiciness,” highlighting a flavor that coats plenty of vegetables and juicy pork.

Renewed Chinese-style Sauce, Half a Day’s Vegetables in One Bowl

The official notice explains that “Twice-cooked Pork, a hugely popular hearty Chinese-style menu item at Matsuya, returns again this year for a limited time.” It is an authentic dish where the umami of the Chinese-style sauce layers over crisp-textured vegetables and juicy pork, and its nutritional appeal is that one bowl provides half of the vegetables needed in a day.

The Set Meal comes with a choice of side dish: either Kimchi or Soft-boiled Egg. The official notice recommends Kimchi for those who want to add a bit of spicy kick, and Soft-boiled Egg for those who want a richer, milder flavor. Soft-boiled Egg is normally sold as a side item on its own for 100 yen, so getting to choose it for free as a side dish adds extra value. Shareholder benefit coupons can also be used for Twice-cooked Pork.

Lining up prices against the current Set Meal lineup, Twice-cooked Pork sits 30 yen above the Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal and 10 yen below the Beef Yakiniku Set Meal and Boneless Short Rib Yakiniku Set Meal across all three sizes. This same relative positioning holds whether you choose the Set Meal, Double, or Only size, placing it right in the middle band between the ginger-soy-sauce line and the yakiniku line.

Past Notices Show It’s an Annual Summer Staple

Looking back at past notices, Twice-cooked Pork has been a staple Chinese-style dish announced every year mainly in summer since 2018. Through 2020 it launched in late May to June, but from 2021 onward the launch has consistently been in July. Notably, over the most recent three years the announcement dates have moved up by one day each year: July 11, 2024, July 10, 2025, and July 9, 2026. This year’s notice text again proclaims that it “returns again this year for a limited time,” underscoring its position as a fixture of summer.

July Sees Consecutive Tuesday 10 a.m. Paired Launches

On July 14, the Japanese-style sweet Soy Milk Pudding (served with kinako and kuromitsu, 180 yen) also launches at the same time as Twice-cooked Pork. In the previous release cycle, on Tuesday, July 7, the Yatara Beef Bowl and the Stir-fried with Ginger Soy Sauce Set Meal were likewise both rolled out at the same Tuesday 10 a.m. slot, meaning this marks two consecutive weeks in July of multiple items launching together at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday.

In addition, the official Matsuya Foods app will distribute a coupon worth up to 100 yen off from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 through 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28.

The launch covers Matsuya locations nationwide, excluding some stores. Takeout is also available, and for takeout orders, Miso Soup is charged separately.
