Matsuya Sone Branch Reopens Today at 6 PM as a Matsunoya Co-located Store

Matsuya Sone Branch (0932) reopened for business at 6 PM on July 15, 2026. The branch had been closed for approximately 16 days starting at 3 PM on Monday, June 29, and during that closure period, Matsunoya was added as a co-located brand. On Matsuya’s official website, the closure notice that had been attached to the branch’s name has been removed, along with the scheduled closing and reopening dates. This reflects renovation work at an existing branch, not the opening of a new store.

This move to add Matsunoya as a co-located brand had been announced in advance. As of July 10, the official website already showed that Matsunoya would join Sone Branch’s co-located brands, along with the planned closure from 3 PM on June 29 and reopening at 6 PM on July 15 — and today’s reopening arrived exactly as scheduled.

A Sister Branch Within 1 km: Toyonaka’s Matsuya Cluster

Toyonaka City in Osaka Prefecture, where Sone Branch is located, has a total of five Matsuya branches. The closest sister branch to Sone Branch is Matsuya Okamachi Branch (2032), just 0.99 km away. Next come Matsuya Toyonaka Kumanocho Branch (2015) at 1.64 km and Matsuya Toyonaka Kamitsushima Branch (0904) at 1.92 km, both within 2 km. Including Esaka Ekimae Branch (2.65 km) and Shonai Branch (2.67 km), the city is dense enough that Matsuya branches are within walking or cycling distance of one another. With a sister branch within a 1 km radius, Sone Branch will now also carry Matsunoya’s menu.

Another Step Up for Osaka’s Matsunoya Co-location Rate

Osaka Prefecture has 111 Matsuya branches, making it the third-largest market nationwide after Tokyo (336 branches) and Kanagawa Prefecture (112 branches). Of these, 37 branches are co-located with Matsunoya, putting Osaka’s co-location rate at 33.3% — somewhat below the nationwide co-location rate of 38.9% (469 of 1,206 branches). Sone Branch’s conversion to a co-located store nudges Osaka’s rate a step higher.

A Same-Time Closure Pair with Tarumi Branch, One Day Behind

Closures and reopenings tied to Matsunoya co-location conversions are an ongoing trend across the Matsuya chain. Currently, 469 branches chain-wide are co-located with Matsunoya, and reopenings following such closures continue at a pace of roughly one branch every one to three days. Sone Branch’s approximately 16-day closure is about the same length as other branches that closed for the same reason.

Sone Branch’s closure start time — 3 PM on June 29 — matched that of Matsuya Tarumi Branch in Hyogo Prefecture. Of the two branches announced as a same-time closure pair spanning two Kansai prefectures, Tarumi Branch reopened first, at 3 PM on July 14, with Sone Branch following one day later at 6 PM on July 15.
