Matsuya Chatan Mihama Store Temporarily Closes Again, Two and a Half Weeks After Okinawa-wide Simultaneous Closure

Matsuya’s Chatan Mihama Store (1966) in Okinawa Prefecture and Kitano Store (0991) in Tokyo will each temporarily close on specified dates, according to store information on Matsuya’s official website as of August 12. Both stores will suspend operations temporarily before reopening at the announced date and time. Notably, Chatan Mihama Store had only just reopened after all 10 Matsuya stores in Okinawa Prefecture suspended operations together from August 7 to 8, making this a renewed closure just two and a half weeks later.

Okinawa’s Chatan Mihama Store Closes Again After Two and a Half Weeks

Matsuya Chatan Mihama Store (co-located with Matsunoya) will suspend operations at 3:00 PM on August 24 and reopen at 3:00 PM on August 27, a closure period of three days.

Regarding this store, all 10 Matsuya stores in Okinawa Prefecture had suspended operations together due to weather from August 7 to 8, reopening on the 8th. This time, unlike that simultaneous closure of all stores, Chatan Mihama Store alone is temporarily closing on a specified date. The store information does not state a reason for the closure starting August 24.

Okinawa Prefecture, where Chatan Mihama Store is located, has 10 Matsuya stores. A distinctive feature is that all 10 of these stores are co-located with either Matsunoya or My Curry Shokudo, with not a single standalone Matsuya store in the prefecture. Of these 10 stores, only Chatan Mihama Store is temporarily closing this time, and the remaining 9 stores will continue operating as usual during the closure period.

Hachioji’s Kitano Store Closes for About Two Weeks

Matsuya Kitano Store (0991) will suspend operations at 3:00 PM on August 26 and reopen at 10:00 AM on September 9. The closure period of about two weeks is longer than Chatan Mihama Store’s three days.

Tokyo, where Kitano Store is located, is the region with the most Matsuya stores nationwide at 337. Within Hachioji City alone, where Kitano Store is located, 8 stores are operating, including Kitano Store itself, Keio-Hachioji Store, Hachioji Yamada Store, Hachioji Store, Minamiosawa Store, Tama New Town Store, Teikyo Daigaku-mae Store, and Nishi-Hachioji Store, so customers can still use Matsuya at other stores in the city while Kitano Store is closed.
