Matsuya's Official X Voices Intent to 'Cheer On' Something, Without Saying What

On the night of August 4, Matsuya’s official X account published a short post reading only “Maybe I’ll cheer for it.” The single line carried no product name, date, link, image or quote, and it does not reveal what is being cheered for.

A One-Line Post That Withholds Its Subject

The post went up at 8:50 p.m. on August 4. Its text was just that one phrase, a standalone message with no quoted post, no reply target and no attached image. Unlike a typical announcement that lists a product name, date or URL, it reads closer to a personal murmur that lets slip only an intention. It is unusual for the official X account to post a lone line that names no subject.

The Second Such ‘Murmur’ From the Same Writer

Four days earlier, on July 31, the person in charge of the official X account revealed a transfer from the Matsunoya account and called on voice actor Mie Sonozaki, who narrates the in-store radio program “Oishisa Marumie Channel,” to keep providing the “voice from above.” This latest line is the second in that personal tone. Posts that let the staffer’s own personality show have been continuing.

What Else Was Happening at Matsuya

There is no clue within the post as to what the “cheering” refers to. Still, several developments overlapped around Matsuya on the same day, August 4.

• At 10 a.m. that day, the Miyazaki regional dish Hiyajiru launched nationwide, starting at 390 yen for the Only (single-item) option. About an hour and a half before this post, at 7:16 p.m., the official X account had announced the nationwide launch with “At last! Hiyajiru comes to Matsuya!”
• Five items (Yatara Only, Grilled Eel Plate, Eel and Beef Plate, Fluffy Egg Grilled Eel Plate and New Grilled Beef Bowl) newly received the note “※To be discontinued successively” the same day. They include eel items such as the Grilled Eel Plate, and the timing coincides with the end of the Day of the Ox sales push.
• Of these, it was also learned that day that the “New Grilled Beef Bowl,” which debuted as the successor to the No. 1 item in the Beef Bowl General Election, is heading toward discontinuation about eight months after its launch.

Whether any of these is the object of the “cheering,” or whether the line is aimed at something else entirely, cannot be read from the post. If the subject is ever revealed, it will have to wait for a follow-up post.
