On the night of September 6, Matsuya’s official X account quoted a post by voice actress Mie Sonozaki and called out, “Please try the Pork & Kimchi too!” Sonozaki narrates Matsuya’s in-store radio program, the Oishisa “Marumie” Channel, and the exchange centered on that very show.

It was a one-line confession: she herself records the voice recommending the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal on the show, yet in that moment she was eating the limited-time Chicken Nanban instead. In response, the official account quoted her post and replied:

After thanking her for the show, the reply turned around and recommended the very Pork & Kimchi Set Meal the show promotes — this time directly to Sonozaki herself.

A 42-Character Reply With Just One Exclamation Point

The official account’s reply is short, just 42 characters in Japanese. The emoticon “(╹◡╹)” is one the official account uses often, so there’s nothing unusual about this particular choice. Still, the previous reply to Sonozaki on July 31 used “(´∀｀)” instead, showing the emoticon isn’t fixed even when responding to the same person. There’s also only one exclamation point, in “Please try the Pork & Kimchi too!” — a restrained tone that matches the July 31 post, which closed with “Thank you for your support!”

It’s not common for Matsuya’s official account to quote-reply to accounts outside its own family in the first place, and most of the exceptions go to sister-brand official accounts like Matsuya PREMIUM, Sushimatsu, or Matsunoya. Replies to individual accounts can be counted on one hand, and this quote to Sonozaki is only the second, following July 31.

Both Dishes Mentioned Are Currently on Sale

The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal and Chicken Nanban Set Meal that came up in the exchange are both limited-time menu items currently on sale.

The Pork & Kimchi Set Meal, a summer staple made with in-house kimchi, went on sale on August 25, with the official announcement billing it as “back again this year.” Chicken Nanban also continues to be offered as a limited-time item.

A 70-yen discount coupon for the Pork & Kimchi Set Meal was available right after launch, but distribution ended on September 1. This time’s “Please try the Pork & Kimchi too!” comes with no discount attached — it’s simply a call to try the dish the show itself recommends.
