Matsuya's Official X Account Showcases the Wooden Lattice Interior at the Newly Opened Kumagaya Ishihara Store
On August 8, Matsuya’s official X account posted photos of the exterior and interior of the “Matsuya/Matsunoya Kumagaya Ishihara Store (2314),” which opened on July 31, saying it had visited the location. The post read, “We visited the Matsuya/Matsunoya Kumagaya Ishihara Store, which opened on July 31,” and described the interior by writing, “I want this interior at home.”
The store had been announced as of July 9 to open at 10:00 a.m. on July 31, and it opened as scheduled on that date. This latest post comes roughly a week after the opening.
Black-Based Exterior with a Drive-Through
The first photo in the post shows the store’s exterior standing under a blue sky. The black, boxy building has a yellow line running across it, and illuminated signs reading “Matsunoya (TONKATSU MATSUNOYA)” and “Matsuya (MATSUYA)” are lined up along the top of the wall. The exterior itself makes clear that this is a co-located store combining both Matsuya and Matsunoya.
Beside the building is a drive-through lane equipped with a touch-panel ordering machine, and a sign at the entrance reads “Height Restriction: 2.7m.” A window next to the entrance displays menu signage reading “Beef Bowl (Regular Serving) 460 yen, served with Miso Soup” and “Kimchi Kalbi Bowl (Regular Serving) 690 yen, served with Miso Soup,” along with a red vertical banner announcing, “Opening Commemorative — Service Vouchers Now Available!”
A Wall Decoration with a Round Logo Formed from Wooden Lattice
The second photo shows a wall inside the store. What the official account called something it “wants at home” was a three-dimensional wooden lattice artwork: countless vertical slats arranged at varying depths to make Matsuya’s round logo emerge boldly from the wall. The ceiling is also finished in wood grain, and bench seating is placed beneath the lattice. A wall-mounted monitor on the left displays a notice reading “Your order is ready… please come to The Food Pick Up Counter,” along with an announcement for the Matsuya Foods official app and Mobile Order.
Second Store in Kumagaya City, Part of a String of New Openings in Saitama
Kumagaya City already has “Matsuya Kumagaya Bypass Store (0190),” making the Kumagaya Ishihara Store the second Matsuya location in the city. Within Saitama Prefecture, it marks the third new opening in the past few months, following the Kuki Honmachi Store and the Nishi-Urawa Station Store.
Every Matsuya store to open in the past few months has followed the same pattern of being co-located with Matsunoya. Aside from cases like the standalone Matsuya format “Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza Store,” nearly all new openings have taken the Matsuya x Matsunoya co-located format. On July 31, the Oyama Kizawa Store in Tochigi also opened on the same day as the Kumagaya Ishihara Store, placing this within a period of continued co-located openings.
The official X account has recently kept up a run of posts visiting and introducing newly opened stores (including the Ota Maruyama Store, the Yokote Store, the Sushimatsu Mitaka-Minamiguchi Store, and the Tomisato Inter Store), and this post is part of that same trend.

A wall with a round logo drawn in wooden lattice — if I had this at home, I'd probably find myself looking up at it every day.
