Matsuya Opens Two New Stores Today at 10 AM: Oyama Kizawa in Tochigi and Kumagaya Ishihara in Saitama
Matsuya simultaneously opened two new stores at 10:00 a.m. on July 31: “Matsuya Oyama Kizawa” (No. 2313) in Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, and “Matsuya Kumagaya Ishihara” (No. 2314) in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture. Both are Matsunoya-combined stores operating 24 hours a day, and each is the second Matsuya in its city. The two stores, whose opening had been announced on July 9, opened today as scheduled.
Oyama Kizawa: The Second Matsuya in Oyama City, Tochigi
Matsuya Oyama Kizawa is located at 661-13 Oaza Kizawa, Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, and is a Matsunoya-combined store operating 24 hours a day. Oyama City already has an existing Matsuya, Matsuya Oyama (No. 2096, 6-28-22 Ekiminami-cho), about 5.1 km away, making this the second Matsuya in the city. This brings the total number of Matsuya stores in Tochigi Prefecture to 11, of which 10 are Matsunoya-combined — a region where the combined format has become nearly the standard.
Ahead of its opening, the store’s coordinates on the official website had continued to shift slightly southward, and in line with today’s opening, the latitude was updated once again, from 36.344036 to 36.344034.
Kumagaya Ishihara: The Second Matsuya in Kumagaya City, Saitama
Matsuya Kumagaya Ishihara is located at 600-1 Ishihara, Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, and is likewise a Matsunoya-combined store operating 24 hours a day. Kumagaya City already has an existing Matsuya, Matsuya Kumagaya Bypass (No. 0190, 1408-3 Oaza Koezuka), only about 2.3 km away, making this the second Matsuya in the city. Saitama Prefecture is one of the most densely packed prefectures nationwide for Matsuya, with 102 stores, of which 43 are Matsunoya-combined. The sheer number of Matsuya stores in the prefecture is what supports multiple locations within Kumagaya City.
Store Names Drop the “Opening Soon” Notice and Switch to Regular Listings
As of July 9, both store names had carried the notice “*Opens 10:00 a.m. on July 31” at the end, but today that notice was removed, the scheduled opening time setting was cleared, and the listings switched to regular format. It has become customary for new Matsuya stores to carry an advance notice in their store name as the opening date approaches, with the notice removed and the listing switched to regular format on the day of opening.
Matsunoya-Combined Stores Are the Mainstream Format for New Openings
Of Matsuya’s 1,207 stores nationwide, 472 (about 39%) are Matsunoya-combined, and this format — where customers can enjoy Matsunoya’s loin cutlet and mixed fried items alongside Matsuya’s Beef Bowl at the same store — has now become one of the pillars of Matsuya’s store expansion. New stores opening in recent years have notably favored the combined type, and these two stores follow that trend. Since both operate 24 hours a day, customers can access both Beef Bowl and fried items even late at night or early in the morning.
Editor's Note
With this, both Oyama and Kumagaya now have their second Matsuya. Having another spot nearby you can casually drop by late at night is a quietly nice thing.
