Matsuya Renames Free-Shipping Campaign 'Matsuben Day' to 'Matsuben Delivery Day'
It has come to light that the title of a Matsuya notice page announcing a free-shipping campaign for its delivery service Matsuben Delivery has been rewritten. When the page was first published on April 10, 2026, the title read, “No more struggling over what to eat! Every day with a ‘2’ in it each month is ‘Matsuben Day.’ The free-shipping campaign is starting!” On July 28, it changed to “No more struggling over what to eat! Every day with a ‘2’ in it each month is ‘Matsuben Delivery Day.’” The campaign’s name shifted from “Matsuben Day” to “Matsuben Delivery Day,” and the line announcing the launch, “The free-shipping campaign is starting!,” was dropped. This is the 109th day since the notice was published, marking its first title change since going live.
The “Matsuben Day” Wording Remains in the Main Visual
This time, only the title text was changed — no changes were made to the body copy or the images on the page. The main visual at the top of the page still shows the large “Matsuben Day MATSUBEN NO HI” logo as before, along with three circles marking the 2nd, 12th, and 22nd of each month, and the pitch “Orders of 1,100 yen (tax included) or more: regular delivery fee 300 yen → 0 yen.” Only the title has been swapped to “Matsuben Delivery Day,” while the visual side has been left as “Matsuben Day.”
With the launch-phase phrase “the campaign is starting” removed, “Matsuben Delivery Day” now stands simply as the name of the recurring monthly campaign held on every day with a “2” in it. The campaign was announced on April 10 and began as a monthly initiative on April 12, and Matsuben Delivery itself is currently in the process of expanding its coverage area.
Free Shipping Applies on the 2nd, 12th, and 22nd of Every Month
The substance of “Matsuben Delivery Day” hasn’t changed with the name change: on the 2nd, 12th, and 22nd of each month, ordering 1,100 yen (tax included) or more waives the normally 300 yen delivery fee. The page also carries a note that “some stores and areas are excluded.” Matsuben Delivery is ordered through “Matsuben Delivery (Delivery/Official)” on the official Matsuya app or website, and the screen states clearly, “Delivery is best value through official channels!”
Ordering Entry Points and Hours
On the ordering screen, “Matsuben Delivery” is offered alongside “Matsuben Net (Bento Reservation)” and “Matsuya Mobile Order (In-Store/Bento).” Orders are accepted the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a note that “prices differ from in-store prices.”
Customers first enter the delivery address. There’s a search by postal code, as well as input fields for selecting the prefecture, city/ward, and street address.
Store Selection, Minimum Order Amount, and Late-Night Surcharge
Next, customers select the store that will handle delivery. The displayed example lists Matsuya’s Kichijoji Sun Road, Musashisakai, and Mitaka locations, all of which operate 24 hours, with a note that “a late-night surcharge of roughly 7% is added between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.”
The date-and-time selection screen shows that each store has its own minimum order amount. In the displayed example (Matsuya Kichijoji Sun Road), the minimum order amount is 1,000 yen — separate from the 1,100 yen line for free shipping — and orders cannot be placed at all unless this amount is met first. The pickup time is shown as an estimate; in the displayed example, delivery is indicated as arriving roughly 39 minutes or more after the order.
Delivery Prices Differ from In-Store Prices; A Guide to the Free-Shipping Line
Delivery prices on the menu screen differ from in-store prices. The Beef Bowl is 640 yen, and the Umatoma Cheese Beef Bowl is 980 yen; adding Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables as a “Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables Set” saves 30 yen on each (Beef Bowl Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables Set at 950 yen, Umatoma Cheese Beef Bowl Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables Set at 1,270 yen). Only items in the Umatoma Cheese Beef Bowl Miso Soup with Pork & Vegetables Set (1,270 yen) class clear the 1,100 yen free-shipping line on their own; with the Beef Bowl (640 yen), it takes two orders to reach 1,280 yen, meaning most customers will need two or more items to hit the line.
A Wide Range of Payment Options
On the final confirmation screen, customers can choose the delivery method: “leave at the door” or “receive at the door” (cash payment requires selecting “receive at the door”). Payment methods are wide-ranging, including PayPay, d Payment, Rakuten Pay (Rakuten Points can be used), au PAY, Merpay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and credit cards.
It’s also worth noting that on days when the “Matsuben Day” free shipping overlaps with discounts on delivery-only sets, past savings have reached as much as 920 yen, and the official X account has reminded followers of “Matsuben Day” every month, the day before or on the day itself. Now that the name has been settled as “Matsuben Delivery Day,” the campaign looks set to continue as a recurring fixture on every day with a “2” in it.

Editor's Note
The banner still proudly reads "Matsuben Day" in large letters, while only the title has quietly shifted to "Matsuben Delivery Day." For those of us used to the old name, it might take a while before our mouths catch up.
