Matsuya’s store-limited “The Katsu Curry,” which had been sold for 690 yen (tax included) at some Matsuya & My Curry Shokudo co-located stores, was delisted from the store-limited page of the Matsuya official website on the morning of August 11, 2026. The final lineup covered 51 stores in 8 prefectures, centered on Tokyo. Per the official site, the listing began on April 21, so it ran for about four months.

A sauce made to match the cutlet at this price

“The Katsu Curry” was a plate of My Curry Shokudo curry topped with a crispy fried loin cutlet, priced at 690 yen including tax. The promotional image read, “At this price, we went further and made a sauce that goes even better with the cutlet,” putting the curry sauce tailored to the cutlet front and center. The lineup consisted of the basic “The Katsu Curry” at 690 yen, plus “The Cheese Katsu Curry” at 890 yen with melted cheese, and “The Double Katsu Curry” at 920 yen with two layers of loin cutlet. Prices were the same for dine-in and takeout.

51 stores in 8 prefectures, concentrated in Tokyo

Just before the delisting, 51 stores in 8 prefectures nationwide carried it. Tokyo accounted for 31 stores, about 60% of the total, and Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Saitama alone made up 43 stores, more than 80%, a distribution heavily skewed toward the Tokyo metropolitan area. The requirement of being a Matsuya store co-located with My Curry Shokudo narrowed the field, making it a limited menu centered on central Tokyo and the northern wards. Against roughly 1,200 Matsuya stores operating nationwide, it reached only about 4%.

Delisted with the store count unchanged at 51

According to the store-limited page on the official site, Matsuya Kawanishi Noseguchi Store (0860) in Hyogo Prefecture was removed from the list of participating stores on July 13, bringing the nationwide total to 51, and the count held at 51 from then on. That store has continued normal operations since, so this was not a store closure but the end of its handling of this menu item. Counting from the start of the listing (April 21 per the official site), the roughly four-month run was relatively long for a store-limited item. Store-limited menu items sometimes return after a gap following delisting, so any future handling awaits an official announcement.

Same day, August 11: two teppan-grilled meat bowls launch

August 11, the day “The Katsu Curry” disappeared, is also the launch date of new menu items Matsuya had announced in advance. From 10 a.m. that day, two teppan-grilled items go on sale: the “Beef Short Rib & Offal Bowl” and “Matsuya’s Yakiniku Beef Bowl.”
