At 6:22 PM on July 14, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) published a seasonal greeting post marking “July 14 is ‘Sunflower Day.’” The post carried no product or campaign announcement; instead, likening sunflowers to the way they grow straight toward the sun, Matsuya offered a message saying it hopes to be “a presence as close to everyone as the sun, one that can deliver energy.”

A Message Likened to a Sunflower That “Grows Straight Toward the Sun”

The post opens with, “Sunflowers give the image of growing straight toward the sun, don’t they?” and closes with, “We look forward to your visit today as well.”

The accompanying image is an illustration of Macky, dressed as a large sunflower blossom, breaking into a broad smile. At the top reads “July 14 is,” and along the right side, written vertically, are the characters for “Sunflower Day,” all set against a gradient background running from sky blue to white, evoking a summer sky.

A Second Straight Day of Commemorative-Day Posts, Following “Nice Day”

Matsuya’s official X account frequently posts content tied to wordplay-based commemorative days (“◯◯ Day”). Most recently, on July 13, the account marked “Nice Day” with an interactive post inviting followers to share ideas for menu items or projects that would be “nice to have.” This made the “Sunflower Day” post the second consecutive day of commemorative-day content.

The tone, however, differed. Where the previous day’s “Nice Day” post was a two-way idea-gathering campaign, this “Sunflower Day” post carried no idea request and no discount announcement, consisting solely of a seasonal one-line message. It also stands apart from commemorative-day posts tied to actual discounts, such as “Meat Day” or “Matsuben Day,” marking it as a purely greeting-style post.

Capping Off a Day Marked by a Series of Menu Updates

July 14 was a day of continuous activity for Matsuya. The official X account posted twice that day: first at 10:00 AM, followed by the “Sunflower Day” post at 6:22 PM. While the earlier post was an announcement tied to a new product launch, the latter stepped away from product promotion for a seasonal greeting, offered on its own in the evening once that day’s flurry of activity had settled down.
