Matsuya Foods announced on October 9, 2026 that it will revise the prices of 12 Matsuya items starting at 3 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The flagship Beef Bowl (Regular) goes from 460 yen to 480 yen. The company cites rising costs for raw materials, labor, logistics, utilities, and packaging materials, saying the change is meant to “maintain product quality and keep providing a stable supply.”

The table lists Regular Serving prices, but the announcement carries a note stating that “all Beef Bowl items (including the various sets) will see a flat 20 yen increase across every size.” Large Serving and Extra-large Serving versions, as well as sets such as those with Miso Soup or Set Meals, also go up a flat 20 yen as long as they are Beef Bowl items.

Increases Range from 10 to 30 Yen Depending on the Item

The increase is not uniform. Beef Bowl items (Beef Bowl topped with Grated Radish & Ponzu Citrus Soy Sauce, Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg, Beef Bowl topped with Cheese, Bowl of Mixed Simmered Beef and Kimchi, Beef Bowl topped with Tomato and Cheese, and the various sets) go up a flat 20 yen across all sizes. The 20 yen on the Beef Bowl (Regular) works out to about 4.3%.

The largest increase is 30 yen for the Egg on Rice with Choice of Large Serving (350 yen → 380 yen), about 8.6%. The Simmered Beef Meal (400 yen → 430 yen, about 7.5%) and the Kids’ Beef Bowl and Kids’ Curry and Rice (each 450 yen → 480 yen, about 6.7%) also rise by 30 yen, a higher percentage than the Beef Bowl items. By contrast, the Sausage and Egg Set Meal (530 yen → 540 yen) and the Large Serving Sausage and Egg Set Meal (580 yen → 590 yen) rise by only 10 yen, so the increases fall into three tiers: 10, 20, and 30 yen.

Beef Bowl (Regular): Third Increase in a Little Over Two Years

Tracing past announcements, the regular price of the Beef Bowl (Regular) became 320 yen with the revision on April 3, 2018. After subsequent revisions, it rose from 400 yen to 430 yen on July 16, 2024, and from 430 yen to 460 yen on April 22, 2025. The move from 460 yen to 480 yen follows these, making it the third increase in a little over the past two years. About a year and a half has passed since the last one (April 2025), so the gap is longer than in the recent pattern. All three revision dates (July 16, 2024, April 22, 2025, and this October 13, 2026) fall on a Tuesday, and each takes effect at 3 PM.

An announcement on December 26, 2025 also indicated that the Beef Bowl (Regular) would go from 460 yen to 490 yen, but that was a temporary year-end and New Year price applied at some stores in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture from 3 PM on December 31, 2025 to 3 PM on January 3, 2026. It was a limited-time measure, with the price returning to 460 yen at 3 PM on January 3. It differs in nature from the nationwide, permanent revision this time.

Three Developments Converge on the Same October 13

October 13, when the price revision takes effect, is a day on which several Matsuya announcements overlap at different times.

First, from 10 AM that day, the “MEGA Serving Fair” returns, selling the MEGA Serving Boneless Short Rib and Kimchi Bowl (1,200 yen), the Salt-based Green Onion Pork Loin Bowl MEGA Serving (1,140 yen), and others until 10 AM on October 20. This is a revival of the one-day-only event held on August 29, expanded to a week-long run.

At 3 PM on October 13, the same time as the price revision, a new lineup of Beef Plate Set Meals, including the new “Hearty Serving Beef Plate Set Meal” (790 yen), also arrives. The launch announcement explains that the flagship “Beef Bowl sauce” reaches its 38th evolution, with its aroma and richness greatly boosted. While the price revision announcement itself cites maintaining quality as the reason for the increase, a new product accompanied by a refreshed sauce goes on sale at the same hour.
