Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza Launches Kobe Beef Version of Its Flagship 560-Yen 'Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl' at 1,650 Yen

On September 2, the official Matsuya X account quote-reposted a post from the official Matsuya PREMIUM account to announce that the “Kobe Beef Grated Radish Beef Bowl” is now on sale at Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza. Its official name is “Kobe Beef Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl,” and it went on sale at 11:00 the same day. It is priced at 1,650 yen for a regular serving and 2,340 yen for the double-meat size.

The Original Is the Classic 560-Yen “Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl”

This item is a spin-off of the “Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl” (regular serving 560 yen) from Matsuya’s regular menu, reworked with Kobe beef. The official announcement from Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza explains: “We have reimagined the ‘Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl,’ a regular menu item loved for many years at Matsuya, as an exquisitely luxurious dish that Matsuya PREMIUM is proud of.” The original Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Bowl is a regular menu item still on sale at 560 yen for a regular serving, and the Kobe beef version costs 1,650 yen for a regular serving, about three times as much.

The attached image shows a beef bowl topped with grated radish and chopped green onion, along with a green citrus that looks like sudachi, accompanied by the tagline “Carefully crafted, with a clear, crisp flavor.” This tagline does not appear in the body of the official announcement and appears to have been written specifically by Matsuya PREMIUM. The announcement itself describes the flavor as the melting sweetness of Kobe beef, refreshingly paired with domestic oni-oroshi radish and a special ponzu.

“Oroshi Beef Bowl” Is an Abbreviation Used in the Official X Post

The official Matsuya X post reads: “Matsuya PREMIUM @matsuya_premium has started selling the Kobe Beef Oroshi Beef Bowl!! To fans of Matsuya’s oroshi beef bowl, please try the premium version in Ginza (╹◡╹)”. Both the post and the quoted original abbreviate the name to “Kobe Beef Oroshi Beef Bowl,” and the formal name with “Oni-Oroshi Ponzu” appears only in the official announcement. The closing “(╹◡╹)” is an emoticon the official Matsuya X account has often added at the end of Matsuya PREMIUM announcements in the past, and this post ends the same way.

Kobe Beef Items at Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza

Matsuya PREMIUM Ginza is a permanent store that opened on June 10, 2026, on the basement level 1 of Matsuya Ginza to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Matsuya Foods, and it is operated as a service separate from regular Matsuya. The benchmark item at opening, the “Kobe Beef Bowl,” was 1,390 yen for a regular serving and 2,080 yen for the double-meat size.

Subsequent official X posts show that the store has been adding Kobe beef versions of regular-menu staple flavors roughly every two weeks: prepared-food sales of the Kobe beef bowl on August 3, the “Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg” on August 19, and now the “Kobe Beef Oroshi Beef Bowl” on September 2. The August 19 “Kobe Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg” is likewise positioned as the Kobe beef version of the original “Beef Bowl topped with Green Onion and Soft Boiled Egg” (regular serving 660 yen), and its prices of 1,650 yen for a regular serving and 2,340 yen for the double-meat size match those of this oroshi beef bowl.

On September 1, the day before, regular Matsuya stores began selling the new “MATSUYA DELI” series, and its lineup includes the “Oni-Oroshi Ponzu Beef Plate DELI” (470 yen). New products with the same “oni-oroshi ponzu” flavor thus appeared around the same time at both regular stores and Matsuya PREMIUM.
