On September 6, Matsuya’s official X account (@matsuya_foods) posted photos showing a visit to the newly opened “Matsuya/Matsunoya Seki Store” (No. 2301), which had opened on Friday, September 4, where it tried the Matsunoya app coupon-exclusive “Authentic Fried Chicken Bowl.” The visit came just two days after the store’s opening, and the post included two photos: one of the storefront and one of the bowl.

A Regular Feature: The Official X Account Visits Newly Opened Stores

The post opens with, “We wasted no time visiting the newly opened Matsuya/Matsunoya Seki Store in Gifu Prefecture on Friday, September 4 (╹◡╹).” This format—the official account itself visiting a newly opened store and reporting on an item eaten there—has appeared repeatedly on official X. Recently, similar posts have continued at a pace of one or two per month, including the Musashimurayama Store, which reopened with a co-located Matsunoya on September 1, as well as the Kumagaya Ishihara Store and Tomisato Inter Store. The emoticon at the end of the sentence, “(╹◡╹)”, is also a familiar sight in these “we visited” posts.

The Seki Store had already been listed on Matsuya’s official website store information page with an advance notice of a September 4 opening, and it opened exactly as announced. The store co-locates Matsunoya, which serves tonkatsu and tonkatsu bowls, and the storefront photo shows a black-toned building with signs reading “Matsuya” and “Matsunoya” side by side, with the Matsuya logo and a red “tonkatsu” circle set in the center. Banners reading “Matsuya,” “Matsunoya,” and “Drive-Through” stand out front, and a window sign reads “Morning Set Meals from 350 yen.” In the lower right of the image is an illustration of Matsuya’s official mascots Macky & Yakky with their hands together.

The Matsunoya App Coupon-Exclusive “Authentic Fried Chicken Bowl”

The item featured as what was eaten this time is the “Authentic Fried Chicken Bowl.” The post describes it as “Matsunoya app coupon-exclusive,” adding, “If you’re nearby, please be sure to use it.”

The accompanying photo shows a white bowl lined with shredded cabbage, topped with four large pieces of fried chicken. Mayonnaise is added along the rim of the bowl, and to the upper right sits a bowl of miso soup containing wakame and tofu. A condiment stand is also visible on the table.

The “Authentic Fried Chicken Bowl” is not an item from Matsuya’s beef bowl lineup, but rather a product from the co-located Matsunoya side. It can reportedly be ordered using a coupon distributed through the Matsunoya app, and it does not appear on Matsuya’s in-store menu or official menu page. Official X posts mentioning Matsunoya app coupons are unusual, making this a piece of guidance unique to co-located stores.

Stores that co-locate Matsuya and Matsunoya continue to expand nationwide. Within Gifu Prefecture, the Seki Store has now joined the Kitagatacho, Gifu Noritake, Tarui, Gifu Toei-cho, and Kakamigahara stores, becoming one of the prefecture’s Matsuya/Matsunoya co-located stores.
