On the afternoon of August 23, Matsuya’s official X account announced, with a single photo attached, that the free service vouchers currently being handed out will stop being distributed at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25. The post also said that the “Matsuya Original Sauce Roast Beef,” released on July 28, will soon be discontinued.

The “Midsummer Waku Waku Project Free Service Voucher Distribution Campaign” has a distribution period shown in the announcement on Matsuya’s official website as 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11 through 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25. It is being held as part of Matsuya Foods’ 60th Founding Anniversary celebrations. With each purchase of a main menu item, customers receive one of three vouchers: a “Free Small Serving Potato Salad Service Voucher,” a “Free Small Serving Kimchi Service Voucher,” or a “Free Dried Seaweed Service Voucher.” Collect three of these main vouchers and you can exchange them for one plate of Small Serving Boneless Short Rib.

The post’s line, “Voucher distribution ends at 10 a.m. on the 25th (Tue)!”, matches exactly the end time of the distribution period stated in the announcement text. The vouchers’ own expiration is set separately from the distribution deadline, and the official website states it as the end of September 2026. The item has been offered in four varieties: Only at 880 yen, Double at 1,470 yen, Beef Bowl at 1,150 yen, and Founding Beef Curry and Rice at 1,380 yen. However, the announcement on the official website does not give a specific discontinuation date, and the post says only “ending soon.”

10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, when voucher distribution closes, is also the time at which Matsuya has announced it will launch its “Pork & Kimchi Set Meal” (890 yen) as a Limited-time item. So at the same hour, the end of the voucher giveaway coincides with the start of sales of a new menu item. The roast beef’s “ending soon” notice also falls in the same period.
